How is your Couch to 5k progress???

I started the couch to 5k program two weeks ago....tomorrow will be my last run of week #2. I never thought I would be able to run, I still do not feel very confident doing it, but, I keep plugging along. Each day that I do it, I push myself to do one extra set...running a little longer than 20 min each time. I keep hoping that will help me bump up to the next week. Still waiting to enjoy running...but, I am excited because I feel like I set myself a tangible goal and I am not stopping til I complete it. Would love to hear how everyone else's journey to a 5k is going. I am doing this in addition to workouts with my trainer. Is anyone else noticing that it is speeding up their weight loss by running??

well, i didnt see any significant weight loss when i did my C25K and then ultimately my 5K BUT what i did notice was shifting in my body. i dont measure, which i should, but i definitely noticed my "*kitten* shelf" moving a little bit LOL
i stopped running now, which im mad at myself for cause i hurt myself, but i suggest keep at it slow and steady and youll be very happy with yourself!! congrats!0 -
I used to run a lot, and haven't in a while now. I was embarrassed to admit I had to start from scratch with C25K. The first few weeks I thought I'd never get back to running again, but as the weeks progressed, I felt better and better about it. The turning point was week 5 day 3, where you do the 20 minute run. I was worried, but it turned out to be no problem.
Tomorrow I do week 7 day 3, and I'm happy to say that I feel like my old self again when I run. It's still going to take a while, but I've added a 10K training program to start after the last week of C25K.0 -
I am on W8D2. In a million years I never thought I would be able to run for 28 full minutes, but here I am. Most days I have to talk myself into getting out there and doing it but I always feel AMAZING during and after.
I was doing this with the Insanity workouts. I didn't have a huge weight loss but have noticed that everything is a little tighter than it used to be.0 -
Hi,
Would love to hear more about the Couch to 5k program. I have never been able to run, however I have always wanted to and this program sounds like it would help. I am currently attending a Zumba class twice a week but that is about all the exercise that I get. I work sitting down all day which is hard when trying to stay in shape and healthy.
Would love for you to add me as your friend so that we can encourage each other and report on progress.
Thanks and good luck!0 -
I also do other fitness programs but I have seen major improvments with being abe to do better doing cardio workouts my legs are more tone When you make to W5 the jogs will begin to seem easier Im doing w7d2 today which are the 25min jogs I love it and to think I had to repeat w1d1 becuase I could not jog for a full 90sec0

I am doing day 3 of week two today. I've found this week to be easier than the first week. I do it three days a week and then do the 30ds on the other days. I only lost half of a pound since I started running but am going to keep it up. I'm waiting to have that feeling of enjoying running as well, can't even imagine being able to run for 30 minutes straight.0

I'm currently doing the recliner to the refrigerator program, and it's not working out well for me at all. But in my defense I do 12 oz curls while I'm in the recliner.0

The first time I started C25K was May 30th. I made it to week two and stalled. My doctor put me on a new medicine and I gained weight, retained water & had a lot of headaches. After I got of the medicine I restarted C25K in July. Again I made it through week 2 and then got bacterial brochitis which put me down for 4 days and took a while to recover from. I'm not sure when I restarted C25K for the 3rd time but I have successfully made it to week 7. I had been running outside and since the weather has turned cold and it is now dark about the time I get home from work so I haven't really ran for about 2 weeks. I am joining a gym and had my first opportunity to run on a treadmill 2 days ago. I don't like it as much, but I will manage since it is the only option during the winter.
I would have never thought I'd start running at age 40 but I have come to enjoy it and look forward to it. Good luck, keep at it and don't let anything hold you back. If you need to restart or repeat weeks, its okay. We are human and as long as your spirit is in it, you will succeed.0 -
I ran 35 minutes straight yesterday, but I'm also on week 4 day 3 of C25K today. Running with a friend at work trying to help him get in shape too.
I'm ahead of where he is so I run by myself on Tuesday & Thursday and slower with him on M, W, F while doing C25K.0 -
I will be officially starting my app on sunday or Monday i have not decided.0

Congrats on restarting for the third time and being on week 7!! That is determination...you will surely succeed yourself! That is inspiring!0 -

I hear 40oz curls are much more effective.0 -

awesome job! At this point I still cannot imagine being able to run for 30min....but I look forward to saying I can. I signed myself up for a 5k on Dec 3rd. I won't be done with my Couch to 5k program yet...but I have decided that's ok. I have about 6 or 7 friends who are doing it with me. A couple of them it's their first 5k also, a couple are just doing it to support me...but it's exciting! I just want to be able to keep up! lol0 -

I completed my first 5K before I finished the C25K program, I couldn't run the whole thing but I finished it and in less time than I thought I would. It felt pretty good. Good luck!0 -
Hello
I'm half way through week 8. However, I have been pushing myself this week to do extra and managed to run for a full 35min without stopping! I honestly could not believe it, in august I struggled running for a minute at a time and I remember how i dreaded the 3 minute runs.
I cannot say enough about how amazing this program is, I love it !!!
I noticed my body has changed shape alot, especially my legs, they are a lot more toned and defined.
Good luck with the rest of it, and feel free to add me for extra support
