New, not to dieting...

Hello! I am new-ish. I have dieted for the past 3 or so years. I started at 212, and got down to 177, then started again at 202 and lost till 158, and now regained AGAIN to 201... Its a frustrating battle. All times I did low carb. It worked for me, but rebounding was terrible. Im trying lowfat/calorie this time around as well as gym time.
Wednesday was day 1. I ran 4.6 miles on the elliptical for 40 mins.
Thursday I weighted in at 201#, day two and kept my calories at 1200, 25 min running for 2.5miles on the elliptical.
If anyone has any tips or advice or personal stories id be happy to hear!

Just wanting to say welcome back and good luck! Sounds like you are doing great already, 4.6 miles in 40 minutes is awesome! I can't even do that and I have been working out for over a month now.
I think its good you are trying the lowfat/calorie thing. I find that that works best for me too. Also want to add in 2006 I lost 40 lbs and gained about 15 of it back. Hoping this time around I wont gain it back, I had a really bad diet and didn't work out AT ALL. Feel free to friend me if you would like!
Keep up the good work!0 -
I see you have the will to lose the weight sense you have done it before. I seems to me that for you it is just a "diet". It can not just be a diet it has to be a life change. Healthy food everyday exercise everyday. Once the weight is gone it will easily come back if you go back to the "old" way o doing things.
So with that said, I think you just have to decided that it has to be a life style change. YOU ca do it!!! Keep going!0 -
Hi Callie! Eating healthy and working out will get you there in time. When I started tracking I realized that although I might have been eating relatively healthy, I wasn't eating often enough, putting my body into starvation mode. I also realized that I wasn't drinking enough water! Make sure that you drink plenty of water, and you eat enough, including your gym calories and it will start to come off. Good Luck!0

IHO you are trying way to hard. Exercise but start slowly and build up. Not saying you shouldn't give it all you got but don't do it on the first day. I started out at 350 lbs. and couldn't possibly do 40 min. on the elliptical. I started out at 15 min. then went 3 - 5 minutes longer each workout until I worked my up to 45 min. I wanted to lift weights so I cut back to 20 min. on the elliptical but use a more strenuous course and lift weights as well. I can relate to your dieting. I lost 100 lbs. 10 years ago and gained 50 back. Now I'm working on losing another 100 lbs. and I'm down 52. Most diets don't work because you can't maintain them for a lifetime. I think that if there is a secret, it is to figure out what you can normally eat and lose weight. 1200 calories does not seem like much but MFP will figure that for you if you put in the information and don't try to lose too fast. I'll quit now. Good Luck.0

Thanks guys for the reply. I am motivated when I see the scale move. And I think I really need to just put that darn scale away…. I think Im not going to kill myself at the gym with 40 mins again HAHA. Not for a while. It was a “What can I actually do?” Day. Im sure ill keep it more in 20-40 mins a day. Thanks so much for the responses!0
