What should I look for? What games have you found helpful in losing weight? So excited!

  • I know that a lot of people have had lots of luck using their wii to lose weight. I'm not one of them. I bought the wii fit, a few dance games, and other workout types of games. For me, it wasn't enough. It 'can' give you some cardio but I needed more. I think it's more for fun that anything else. We had the Michael Jackson experience, lol. That was FUN! However, a friend of mine's mom lost 25lbs using her wii and counting calories, so it CAN be done.

All the best to you :)

I like Wii Fit Plus, it has a very accurate scale (as long as you have it on a hard surface or board instead of carpet), some good yoga and strength training, but I use the jogging more than anything. I don't like going outside in the winter so it's perfect for an indoor ten minute run when there's ice outside.

I use EA Active 2 for the Wii. It helped me with my cardio and strength for 9 months. I've now outgrown the strength exercises, but use a custom-made cardio routine from time to time. I high recommend it.

I love my Wii I've been using it as gentle physio for years with just Wii Fit (the original one) and slowly built up how much I can do, now also have Wii Fit Plus, Exerbeat and EA sports, hoping to get a boxing game next for xmas with the boxing gloves accessory, as I find that gives me a really good workout from sitting.

The Biggest Loser is meant to be good game too, though I couldn't adapt enough of it for my needs so gave it to a friend who is enjoying it. My sister-in-law has the Zumba and Dance games too. we're all hooked... lol!

i have the wii fit, and i use that as supplimental work out - i'd never give up my gym membership to use it exclusively. I suspect you'd get a better work out with the Jillian Michaels' programs.

Not that i am saying i dont like wii fit - i LOVE it! I went through withdrawl when lost my power cord and couldn't use it! I find that if i am bored, instead of putting on the TV i tend to hop on the Wii Fit. :-)

    hope that helps!!

i think a lot of the sports type games on there are a lot of fun. personally, it's just not intensive enough for me exercise-wise, but it's better than sitting there playing farmville , which i do. :blushing:

Thanks for the replies! Wii fit plus it is, with maybe a Dance game on the side. Does bowling come on each Wii? My older kids enjoy bowling at their friends house.

Bowling is on a separate Sports disc, I had a lot of fun with that one. High score = 280
