Just wanted to get advice or hints from fellow MFP users who have participated or are considering the Ragnar relay race! I'm in western Washington and my friend has convinced me into joining her team but I'm not much of a runner, let alone someone who can run upwards of 20 miles in the dark in a 24 hour period!

So, has anyone heard about this or participated?

thanks!

I have friends who have done it. It's a real bonding experience so make sure you like your team! I've not done it myself though. Maybe some day. Good luck!

I've been thinking about it too. Yes, we've lost our minds.

I have been invited to do the Miami to Key West run in January, but I'm still not real certain. I need the short legs to make it doable for me at my fitness level.

I did the Chicago Ragnar in June and am doing the Key West Ragnar in January. The Chicago Ragnar was a blast. I went in not knowing what to expect either.

The team I ran it with did it for fun and the experience. I ran at 1145a, 9p and 5a. And you definitely are on a slim amount of sleep. But the atmosphere and adrenline keep you going.

Decorated vans and ingenius costumes...sidewalk chalk to write motivational messsges for your teammates! Its was a definite experience I will talk about forever and it is why I decided to get a Key West team together.

No matter your running level, you will have a great time and be happy that you were a part of it.
