Hey Yall!

Wanted to reach out and see if anyone has any ideas for sandwiches? I'm starting to get sick of my same old same old. I usually have whole wheat bread...light mayo...ham...and fat free cheese. BORING!!! Any advice? suggestions?

Different meats, cheeses, veggies... One of my favorite sandwiches is hummus, tomato, cucumber, spinach, and sprouts.

I like to make a version of Panera's vegi sandwich with whatever I have on hand. Bread, flavored hummus, lettuce, onion, cheese, cucumbers, sometimes leftover off the bone ham.

I think the different hummuses and cheeses make them unboring.

You could add tomatoes, lettuce (the good kind!), avocado, onions, deli peppers, hummus, cucumber, spicy brown mustard/honey mustard, different types of bread (country potato, honey wheat, etc), you could do a wrap with a flavored/whole wheat tortilla, you could do tuna, egg, chicken salad sandwich....

    lots of choices!

You can use a Thomas Bagel Thin. 110 calories for the whole thing and a Laughing Cow Light cheese wedge in place of mayo. There is some sort of tomato basil flavor, and a chipolte one too. Then I do some ham or turkey and pickles and tomato. Toast the bagel or not...both ways or good. Also because they are so few calories I like to toast mine and add a bit of peanut butter, and maybe some low cal hot chocolate for a lunch treat.

How about trying mustard? (no calories in French's yellow!)

I like shaved turkey on a "bagel thin"... or even a fried egg on a low calorie roll or toasted bread.

A good "stand-by" is natural peanut butter & no sugar added Polaner fruit spread (or jelly).

Laughing cow cheese wedges have 35 to 50 cals per piece and is perfect in place of mayo!

Try mustards instead of mayo, or even some avocado. Lettuce, onions, cherry peppers! Today I even took an Amy's cheddar veggie patty, yum!

I can relate... too much of the same thing becomes SOOOO boring!!!

I made panini's last weekend for the first time, and they were so GREAT! Not sure if you're talking about eating at home, or a packed lunch. But if you're home, then try throwing your sandwich into a medium-high heated grill pan (after a quick spray of olive oil cooking spray) and then set a heavy pan on top of the sandwich (I use a cast iron one, which works great)! Cook for 2 minutes, flip and repeat on the other side. In the end, you end up with a hot sandwich, with nice melty cheese and all the flavors are warm and mixed. YUMMY! You can add anything you want to your sandwich... Try hot peppers, tomatoes, artichokes, proscuitto... (anything you have in your refrigerator that can fit between the bread!) I'm partial to fresh herbs if you have any around: oregano, parsley, rosemary. They smell and taste amazing in a sandwich! I also sometimes make open-faced sandwiches and throw them under the broiler for a couple of minutes.

This is getting me hungry!!! Good luck mixing it up!

Add rosemary. Whatever sammich you're making, add rosemary. Deliciousness. And baby spinach. Goes with everything, adds texture, packed with nutrition.

  • Try adding some veggies, sprouts, hummus, roasted red peppers, or use a wrap you have to be careful though,a lot of the wraps are very high in calorie. just switch it up, get creative. Good luck!
  • Salsa! I add salsa to all of my sandwiches. It's only made with tomato, peppers and onion and tastes great. It only usually has about 13 calories per serving (2 tbsp) So you can eat as much as you like.
  • I believe beet root is something from the horseradish family..a real bite! sometimes I take yellow mustard a little honey and a spoon of horseradish and mix them together a sweet spicy spread and its fat free! good luck

Condiments: yellow or brown mustard or fat free salad dressings such as balsalmic vinagrette, italian, berry-flavorored spritz.
