HRMs with chest straps are the most accurate! And if you don't like the chest strap Polar has a sports bra that has it built in so you don't have to mess with a strap ...just slip on the sports bra, snap on the transmitter, put your watch on and you're good to go! I got my HRM at the polar website - FT7 for 119 if i remember correctly... god luck on your HRM quest! :)

The chest strap isn't as annoying as you think.
  • I have a Polar FT7, it was 109.00, just get it.

I have a Polar FT4 and I don't even notice the chest strap. They are the most accurate,in all honesty. I had a friend purchase one without the chest strap, and she ended up taking it back, because it was too hard to take a reading while running on the treadmill.

After the first time of wearing my chest strap, I don't even notice it when I wear it now.

without a chest strap it is hard to work out, because you have to touch your watch all the time and that makes working out a bit annoying, while you don't even notice the chest strap and have an accurate reading all the time.

I agree with everyone else, the chest strap really isn't a big deal. I have a polar FT7, I got it from the heart rate monitors usa website for 86 bucks total, I love it!

If you don't get it with a chest strap don't bother getting one at all. Without the chest strap they are pretty much useless for calculating calories. If you just want it to watch your heart rate then the chest strap is not so important, but still better.

I have the Polar FT4 and it has a chest strap... but I wear it a lot!
Every workout I have it on. I wish I could just have the chest strap and not the watch part, I have to wear wrist wraps for heavy weight lifting and the watch gets in the way. I have to put it sticking out of my pants for my heaviest lifts! I have worn the Chest Strap all day and all night before to measure my total calorie burn and its not bad at all. Sometimes I readjust it once during a workout or afterwards, but thats rare!

Thanks everyone... I was actually looking at the polar ft7 before I posted this but I wanted to see what everyone said. I may get it for my bday. Do you think this will still be good if i do workout videos?
