Coming here is all about safeguarding my health.

Hi I'm a guy in my 50's in NW England. I am gritting my teeth and trying to get started with some weight loss. I saw a friend on Facebook recommend MFP and I jut got scared reading the stuff at the excellent www.activefat.org.uk - good but chilling stuff.

That site had me measuring my waist - EEK! 46 inches. :noway:

And MFP just had me weighing myself - DOUBLE EEK! - 16 stone 2 lbs sounded bad but 224 lbs (US style) is HORRENDOUS,

So here I am. I hope I stick it out for a good while.

Hey there ... welcome. It is a great site. I lost quite a bit on my own then got the flu so couldn't exercise so I joined here. Been attached to it ever since. Great place to make friends with common goals. Feel free to send me a friend request. Gary
  • Hi there,

I have been on here for 70 days now and actually it's gone really fast. I just started by logging everything and being really honest about what I'm eating and what I actually do need to eat and about quantities. I didn't have a real lot to lose, about 8kg, and I'm over half way there. I live in France so temptation is on every street corner, bread is my biggest downfall as well as chocolate. I still eat them but is far reduced quantities than before. I think the biggest thing I've realised is how many calories are in certain foods like a slice of bread or a piece of chocolate. It's been a real revelation to me.
Anyway feel free to add me if you want. I'm a Yorkshire lass originally.

Welcome aboard! I just jumped right in when I started. I began by logging my meals, then moved on to exercise and then started exploring the forums. I love the support I get here, and the interaction with people going through similar situations as me.

Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like. :) Best of luck on your journey!
