Does the day ever come where we just eat and don't think 'oh god look at the calories in that, I shouldn't have had that'????
Its been a bad day or so. I bought Tangfastics and ate...all of them. Yep they were good. Yep they were covered in soury sugar. But I have to ask. Does the calorie counting and the total vigilance continue forever?? I'm grumpy whichi is why I'm asking. I know I still have a long way to but I just wonder if this is it .....forever....???

yes...but it's important to log everything for a significant time before that day comes. By logging everything, you learn a lot about your choices and you educate yourself to modify your lifestyle and choices. Once you've cracked that then counting doesn't seem as important as you know that you're automatically eating well. Chances are you'll lose the desire to eat things that are loaded with cals.

I think it becomes instinct rather than consciously thiking about it. You get to a stage where you eat what you want but know where you need to compensate or balance by exercise.

I allow myself break days. But, even then I subconsciously think portion control, etc. I do this to keep from getting "grumpy" But, I realize when I have these "break" days I feel like crap. As opposed to days I track, count, eat healthy, I feel GREAT!
  • First Congrats on you weight lost. That is amazing. Second do not beat yourself up on one bad day. You do did a day to treat yourself. But I am sure this is a problem that you will have to control for awhile but it should became a life style. Good luck Judy:flowerforyou:

I don't think it ever ends…but, I do indulge sometimes and don't guilt about it. If I'm having it I aim to enjoy it completely.

Oh and my goodness! What an amazing weight loss accomplishment you have had! Wow. Really great job you have done.
  • I do look at calories all the time now but i look before i eat , i have been caught out too many times,
if i go out to lunch i will log it before i decide what i'm going to have for dinner. i still go over sometimes but not as much as i used to .
well done on the amazing weight loss
  • It helps me to know that at ANY time I CAN have that cookie or handful of chips, as long as I take my time and savor each one, without guilt, then add it to my calorie count for the day and move on! It seems like trying to stay COMPLETELY away from goodies is a sabotaging thing...like we are denying ourselves something, whereas if we have permission to enjoy something just because it tastes good, then we don't need to eat the whole bag! Having said that, don't beat yourself up, just go back the the successful way you have been eating and remember that you have made a tremendous effort and seen real success and should feel REAL good about yourself!
