If I over eat one day.. then the next eat less or work out more. does it even out? Or is it only on a daily basis? I heard somewhere that you could look at your weekly totals and daily doesn't matter as much.

A lot of people feel it's fine to 'zig zag' around your calorie goal as long as it close to averages out over like a week. I do it a lot and it seems to work well for me. If I go over a bit on a weekend of 'back home cooking', I work a little harder the next couple of days and then go back to normal.0

I dont know about that. I noticed if i eat fast food on Monday, it will take me by Thursday to be the weight I was again before the junk food. But i guess it depends on how much you go over and with what types of foods.0

Several friends have done this and it works out fine.
I have also heard a tip for getting past weight loss plateaus doing this. For example: if your normal calorie intake is 2000/day, eat 2200 one day, 1700 the next. Gives you a net loss, but your body thinks you are eating more and doesn't store as much.
I haven't tried it (just started actively managing my weight), but I have heard good things.0 -
Takes me a while to recover too hard to track takeaways how many cals etc its all estimation.0

There is nothing magical about 24 hours.0

that's a good question. Does it matter? I don't know, never really thought about it but if I had to guess I would say that weight that's hanging around a couple days after a big meal isn't so much ON you as it is still IN you... We don't gain or lose fat that fast.
Drink your 8 cups of water a day. Eat something pro-biotic, ( like plain whole yogurt for example ) a couple times a day. Hit your fiber goals and maybe have some coffee or tea.
That should get things...moving.0 -
I eat slightly more on some days and slightly less on others and I am still losing weight at a constant rate. The variation is no more than 300 calories over or 100 calories under, and I usually hit close to spot on for the week.0

For me it has helped to just take things one day at a time. I tried to lose weight on WW for many many years. I found I would stress about the weekly points and exercise points if I had a special "eating out" day coming up (holiday, party, whatev). If the event was a Saturday I'd be worried all week about "saving those points".
With MFP I don't have that stress and it's been much easier to focus on healthier eating by just taking it one day at a time. I do have days where I go over by a lot, special event days not regular days. It happens. The next day I don't think about what happened the day before, I just focus on the day at hand and do what I can to make it as healthy as possible. This works great for me. On WW, if I had a bad day then the rest of the week would most likely be bad too because the week seemed to be the main unit. Now the day is the main unit of measure so a bad one does not reflect on those following. Not sure if this makes sense to you, but it does to me and it's nice to finally be using a program that doesn't stress me out.0
