Alright here is the deal. I love MFP, love the database and I find cal counting so much easier than WW. I have been on here for over a month now and I am simply maintaining my weight. My weight goes up and down every day but pretty much stays the same week to week. I am by no means perfect with my food choices but I do record everything.
I have tried zig zagging my calories, high and low- nothing
I have watched my sodium-nothing
I have added more protein- nothing
eating back exercise cals- nothing
love water- drink plenty- nothing
My problem is I have always been one to work out .( not really a problem) I love it- it is me time and even when I am not trying to loose weight I still get to the gym 5-6 times a week. So- I am thinking my body needs more of a shock to get the scale moving? I do lots of cardio but I also do some weights (maybe 2 times a week)
I also have the type of body that is very proportioned. I do not look fat (but I certainly weigh enough). I only want to loose 15-20 lbs to be at my happy weight. The Dr's charts recommend another 10 lbs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What has worked for you?
Thanks in advance!

Not an expert by any means but maybe try....
watch sodium more closely
drink more water ... log what you drink
eat fresh fruit and vegetables
That's what I do when things get stuck.
Good luck to you!0 -

So, I took a quick look at your diary and your food choices look good. Lots of variety, plenty of good fats and veggies. However, I do think you need to drop your calories. Try this for a week:
Eat 1200-1400 calories per day and do not eat your activity calories. Try to emilinate all your refined carbohydrates and foods with a high glycemic index, no processed foods only whole food. You want to limit blood sugar spikes at all costs. If you do eat a carb you NEED to pair it with a protein to slow the absorbsion so your body has a chance to burn the sugar before it converts to fat. Make sure you are getting enough healthy fats in your diet (avacado, canola oil, flax seed, salmon). Drink your 8-12 glasses of water.
Include a rest day in your exercise routine once a week and on that day eat whatever your body thinks is good: carbs, fat, whatever, indulge 1800 calories or so.
Also, measure everything you are eating if you are not doing so already. Get a digital food scale and some measuring cups. In some research studies when people estimated their portion sizes they were off most of the time, sometimes by as much as 50%!
See if this works for you.
And remember weight loss is not linear. Sometimes you'll do everything right and your body will hold on to the weight for no reason then bam! The scale drops 4lbs in 2 days. I was stuck for three weeks and then I lost a ton of weight in 3 days.
Just remember to stick with it. You will never get where you want by giving up so keep trying and you'll get there eventually.0 -
thanks for your advice. FYI- I do use a digital scale. Also- my baseline cals are 1600- this is assuming I am sedentary during the day (which I am not- I am a pediatric therapist). MFP originally had my baseline cals at 1800 which was way too high- still trying to figure out where I should be with calories and knowing I work out a lot?0
