First 5k!!!

I did it! I ran my 1st 5k today.

I ran it all while pushing my two youngest kids in their stroller and battling a horrible cold. My three year old daughter even got out of the stroller and ran with me briefly... so proud of her :) Oh and it was a costume race... I was a bumble bee complete with tutu, wings, striped tights and antenna.; so fun!

I hadn't worked out at all in 6 weeks as I just had major abdominal surgery so it felt great just to get off the couch again! What a way to jump back in to my work out routine.

My time was by no means fast, 39:23 minutes, but considering all my obstacles I am beyond proud of myself :)

The old me would never have done this! I was full of excuses to skip the race and yet I stuck to my guns and did it.

Can't wait for my next race!

Hooray for you! You give me hope. I am thinking about running a 5K and have started C25K training. I try and talk myself out of it already - and it's months away! Congratulations to you and take this excitement and start looking for number 2!

That time is still impressive given the fact that you had babies, was fully costumed, and had a little one run with you for a moment. Keep rocking solid!
  • That is wonderful. I have just begun running, when I could run 4 minutes straight I was so happy. I'm baby stepping it to my 1st 5K. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to be able to share my experience when I'm able to do the same. Great accomplishment 8-)

    Thanks for all the support!

    I highly reccomend C25K too!

I was on the program before my latest surgery but only made it to week 7 before going under the knife again. I loved it though and am going to pick it back up again now that I have medical clearance. :)

Slow and steady definately wins the race and the most important part is that we are moving! I should have worn a tortoise costume :)

Great job!! I am training to run a 5K as well. I love how I feel when I run and I am hoping that I can run my first 5K within the next couple months. Keep up the great work!!!

well done! and what a fun way to spend time with your kids too. Slow and steady is the key- build the distance first and speed will follow later. when i first started c25k in may i struggled to run 3mins let alone 5k! my timing has improved from 38mins to under 26mins. take it easyand keep running :)
