Hi There ~ I go to the gym several times a week. I attend classes...yoga, step, spin, body work, treadmill etc. I was reminded today that the gym has a sauna. This is probably a dumb question but....when is it best to use the Sauna??? Can it help with your weight loss??? Or is it just to sweat out toxins???

Thanks ~ just wondering if I should add it to my list of things to do:happy:

Like to use it after my workout and before my shower.

I use the sauna after my exercise and before the whirlpool. It's part of my relaxation goal. It's not going to help with permanent weight loss but it's very relaxing. My gym has separate saunas for men and women, and there are rarely any other people in it when I use it. I take my color nook and read, so it's also a nice quiet break.

For what it's worth, most gyms don't allow water on the sauna rocks (which is why I can bring my nook in--the humidity's relatively low), the temps are often lower than what one might like on a personal basis (my gym only allows up to 160, and that really isn't very hot for a sauna), and after a few weeks, people will comment on your glowing skin!
  • I always use the sauna after my workout! It's great for weight loss and secreting toxins. =)

EVERY time I leave the gym I think "I'm going to use that damn sauna next time" and I repeatedly forget to bring the right gear. So, I have to thank you for the thread PP. When I have used the saunas in the past it made that post workout "high" last longer. And yes, glowing skin is always a big plus in my book!

It's always great to get rid of toxins. Lightens your load and makes you feel better!
