Olive Oil

I so often cook my chicken and fish fillets in a skillet with a dash of infused olive oil. I am not sure how to journal this as 1. I dash it from my little dispenser and 2. There is usually some left over in the pan.

My apologies for the frivelous question, I am really, really working hard to make this lifestyle change, and I keep goofing up, despite my best efforts to make the right choices.

On brighter note, I haven't had my usual fast food in close to two months now!! NSV! :D

I always just put 1 tablespoon or half tablespoon, even when I know I am estimating too much... better to overestimate than under...

I would measure that "dash" and use that… is it about 1 teaspoon? It might be more than you think! I think it's better to overestimate a little than to allow yourself "cheats" by underestimating, which can really add up…. and which I"m fighting with myself right now. :) But, fats (whether "good" or "bad") is not where I would allow myself to cheat. It's too calorically dense… a little cheat is a LOT of calories. We still only need so much fat in our diet (and less saturated than other kinds).

Just track what you added, the little left in the pan (if it's lots you're probably using too much int he first place) isn't going to be a big deal calorie wise... like don't be my dad... oiling the pan that you plan to cook bacon in which is so full of grease that it doesn't need the oil... neither of course does my perfectly seasoned cast iron pan that he's preparing to cook in. If you are going to buy extra lean beef don't add a bunch of oil to it, might as well buy the regular cheaper beef and definitely NOT add any oil....

It's a good fat, if uncooked. Otherwise, not really much better than others. Healthy fats don't help weight loss, but are nutritionally good for you(unless you have some study saying different?).
