We are told to eat less work out more and its the cure to losing weight. One of the things I learned the hard way on my journey towards being fit and healthy. If I knew then what I know now this is what I would do to ensure that my progress is continuous and not starvation.
1.weigh/measure in
2.Track what I ate daily before I made any nutritional changes.
3.Subtract 500 from that
4.Exercise 3 times a week for 30 mins
Do this for two weeks and weigh/measure in again...if there is change keep it as is until the progress stops. Then repeat steps above but increase intensity and duration of workouts.
There is no need for this journey to be harder than it already is, you gotta crawl before you walk. A gradual progression will help u succeed and stat on track. Of course its hard when you go from eating to gain to 1200 cals a day, then to hit a plateu. From 1200 cal plateu you will have to repair your damaged metabolism to start losing again, and that doesn't soon over night. Work smarter not harder:)

Absolutely!
It didn't take drastic changes in our lives to make us (in most cases) gain weight. A little extra here, a little extra there, not being quite as active as we should, and it adds up.
It doesn't take drastic changes to lose it, either. You don't need to give up everything you like, and you don't need to spend hours at the gym. Most of us can burn about 300 calories in a half hour of exercise. Take those 300, and eat 200 less than you normally would, and there's your 500 calorie deficit.0 -
Thank you for the post! Should I start zig-zagging my calorie intake now or do I start zig-zagging when I hit plateau? I'm still losing weight at 1200 calories right now.0

Yeah, I never went below 1750, and often went over it. It took me a year to get where I am now after having my 3rd child, but it was never hard. I was never starving.0

Here is the link that helped me with my daily zig zag pattern.

agreed! except I don't have 3 kids...
but still , EAT, people...1200 is just too little food to get adequate nutrition.
I eat about 2000 a day.0 -

^ I especially agree with this part. Overly aggressive change = long term fail for most.0 -
Now this is exactly the mind set we should all have, kudos friends:)0

Well I have to thank you for this post. I had been on this site back before summer...lost a few pounds but got to the point that I HATED thinking about food...(not that I wasn't hungry lol) but I was sick of logging each scrap that I ate. 1200 calories was just not 'helping' me - mentally. I'm not knocking the concept...I'm just saying how I let it negatively effect me. I like food...! lol
I also stopped exercising...my own fault...was moving during this past summer, stressed...and just stopped. I don't think I've gained weight...but I'm not happy with my lack of 'movement' and not really looking forward to eating in general...being hungry...eating something just to eat..and not always even enjoying it.
I have the 30day shred...have to modify some of it due to being out of shape...but I did improve by day 10 last time...but of course by then I stopped. blah blah... ;o)
Back to the original post, here by B2BB - I can start eating healthier...and I can commit to 3 days a week - lord knows I feel better in general when I exercise...don't we all? If I do more, great...but the 3 days minimum. And I'll come on here for support when I can. Not going to log m food for now... Am turning 49 next week...and dang....I want to be my best before 50 rolls around. I'm not one to 'settle' for less than what i want in so many other areas...time for this too. )
PS..I just checked the zigzag link...cool...and more do-able- for me at least. Thanks for sharing it.0
