Today is my first day on the patch. I've quit with it before but always started again shortly after. I want to lose some serious pounds in November and I know that quitting smoking is going to make it harder but that's why I'm going to be harder on myself this month than normal! I'm looking forward to running without my lungs hurting and not coughing in the mornings anymore. I have been a smoker since I was 14 and I will be 28 in January. I want to start the new year completely smoke free!

I wont say Good luck to all. You dont need. Win the day, one day at a time. Win
  • I quit smoking 6 1/2 years ago and it was the best decison I have made besides losing weight. Sometimes the affects still linger around but mostly I can breathe better, have more stamina, and I don't have to plan my day around smoking. ie do I have to get smokes? where can I smoke? when is my next break so that I can smoke? You can do this we are all here standing beside, in front, and behind you supporting you.

it can be done!!!! I quit this past January (1/11/11) I couldnt smoke for at least 48 hrs after some dental work so I figured that this was a good time to kick it for good. I was on the patch plus used an e-cig (without nicotine) to give me something to satisfy my need to 'smoke'. I continued the same eating and exercise habits and while I will admit to enjoying a good cigar every once in a while I have been cigarette free for 9 months.
    Stay strong!!!!!!

Thanks so much for all the support!! This will be my last time quitting because I'm never starting again! I want to be smoke free and feel better. :)
  • I want to say good luck and congrats. this is the best thing you can do for yourself. I smoked from 11 to last month, I will be 25 the 12th on Nov. I smoked almost 2 packs a day and in a month I have been able to breath easier, my chest doesn't hurt, my sleep apeana is almost non existent, have more energy and I'm not coughing my head off any more. It was hard but I quit cold turkey. My husband still smokes, but he is a truck driver and not home often, when he is, he has to go outside even in the cold (that is his incentive to quit). He had gotten a vapor cigarette and it was helping for a while but he gave it to his mom to try to get her to quit, I'm getting him 2 for Christmas. If you haven't already, remove anything that has to do with cigarettes from your house, car, work and yard. Clean, deodorize everything possible.

I smoked from 19 to 39. I quit almost 8 years ago cold turkey and haven't looked back since. The biggest motivation was the pregnancy of my wife and my promise that I would stop if we were going to have a child. One of the best decisions I ever made.
