I have found recently that I use a lot of the same foods over and over and i am getting a little bored. I fear that if I don't add some new quick healthy staples to my life I will start failing at my nutritional aspect of weight loss. Any ideas for new quick mini meals that I can just throw together and run will be greatly appreciated!

How about telling us what some of your current staples are?

I lean on oatmeal, porridge (different mix of grains) olive oil, almonds, cashews, chicken breast or thigh, jerky (beef, venison whathaveyou - solid strips of lean meat dried not the ground and formed kind....)
yogurt, raspberries, eggs (can't forget eggs, 3 dozen every 2 weeks, having chickens is great) and mentioning chickens brings me to all the various cuts that my own livestock gives me, 3 pigs in the freezer, 2 cow....

I use Kipper snacks as my go to protein boost when I'm low, or whey powder in my yogurt / frozen berry smoothies...

OK here is what I love just to give you some pointers:

Breakfast Options: Oatmeal, green boiled banana's with whole wheat bread///1 slice!! Throw some jam or pb on it for kicks (amazing IRON) I will do kale smoothies sometimes also check my blog for a recipe. Another great idea is egg white omelets if you have a good 10min with tomatoes, spinach, and onions...very good!

Lunch: I love eggs and what they do for me so I will throw some rosemary chicken and eggs together great taste! Always have a veg it will fill you up in a great way!

Snacks, almonds, carrots, fruit bars...whole fruit!! So good and only like 50cal, any fruit really in moderation, watch the sugars unless your lifting weights than it doesn't really matter b/c you BURN it off FAST....HUMMUS!! Yum...

Fish! Salmon , tuna, great staple the fats in it are amazing for you, and avocados...VERY GOOD FATS..

I like sweets so I try to get inventive and make fun easy things...take a jell-o mousse cup about 60 cal and some granola and pair it with some berries very sweet and great! and go for a berry smoothie with some protein from time to time...filling and good for you after dinner. Good Luck!

Look around on the internet!!! " Eat better america" has a lot of good recipes. I usually spend one-two days a week cooking different meals, and freezing them for dinner, so I can still eat healthy on the days im busy...

This recipe is a family favorite at our house, and i always add an extra variety of veggies, so that I can easily get my veggie requirements for the day....

This happened to my husband and I. A few weeks ago I went to the book store and checked out the available cooking magazines and settled on 2 Cooking Light specials. They had a lot of different items in them and low calories to boot. I've since signed up for the magazine and get weekly/daily e-mails with recipes as well as the magazine in the mail. I've been trying a lot of different things and been happy with everything so far. Last night was butternut squash-leek soup. Super yummy and healthy. That said, I would recommend either a magazine subscription or some online source for recipes to help you out of your rut!

    Good luck!
