I am brand new here and having to take my kids trick or treating tonight. How do I resist the urge to eat some of it myself??? I am really scared I don't have the willpower.

Chew some gum, or remind yourself what it does to your body. Or, fit it into your calorie goal for the day. No need to deprive yourself all the time, just make sure to show some restraint :D

Bring a bag of baby carrots, a big bag, keep on eating them... LOL. Seriously, I do this for night snacking when I'm bored or tired, keeps you busy and somewhat satisfied after your cals are taken in for the day.

Keep yourself full of water. Take a water bottle with you.

I think you should not totally deprive yourself of things you enjoy. One or two pieces are not going to kill you. In fact, it may help you not to want to binge one of these days if you have things in moderation.
  • For every candy you snack on you have to do 5mins of running!!!

Brush your teeth before heading out. You won't eat candy if it tastes wonky from toothpaste. Also, bring sugar free spearmint gum. Same sentiment.

Just do it, girl. You want this. You want to succeed. Succeeding means just don't eat the freakin' candy!! lol

This is how my night will go.

    1. Dress up in costume, sit on front porch holding bowl of candy.
    2. Wait for kids to slowly walk up the driveway wondering if I'm real or not.
    3. Listening to kids ask their parents if I'm real.
    4. Laugh on the inside when parents really aren't sure either.
    5. Scare the hell out of both kids and parents so the kids drop their candy and run away.
    6. Grab all candy they dropped to add to my candy reserve.
    7. Clean up pee puddles after the trick or treating festivities are over.
    8. Go inside and eat some candy.
    9. Track the calories.
    10. Lose weight still.

    The end.

If you lack the mental fortitude, perhaps eating a really filling dinner before you go out would work? Also, chewing gum and carrots, as listed above, will help.

Imagine all the calories you're going to be losing when you walk them around door to door. You don't want to ruin that!
  • I think that might stop me from wanting to eat any :-)
  • Thank you for all the suggestions!! I can say that I only had one very small snickers (bite size) and haven't wanted anything else!!

    This gets my vote!

Most "fun sized" candy bars are about 50-70 calories. Even if you go over your calories by 50-70, it's not going to put any major impact on your weight loss.

I caved in finally tonight and had a few tootsie roll midgees. I'm still ok, and now at least I've had my fix. And I gave away all the candy so it's gone, out of my house! :)
