Weight Lifting Question -- Anybody Else Had This Problem?

Okay, so I am 21 days into my 90-day FIT Challenge. I am doing ChaLEAN Extreme and am lifting heavy (for me) dumbbells. A few months back, I had a bad scare where basically I had pulled my pec muscles, then got something called chondocondroitis (sp?) which is inflammation in the cartilage of your pec muscles. It hurt so bad, it made me feel like I was having a heart attack, and I ended up in the ER.
Well . . . fast forward, and I am lifting lighter weights for my pecs (15 lbs. instead of 20 lbs.), but TODAY, I am starting to feel a pain again right where it was last time. Has anybody else out there in the MFP world had this happen? Do I just need to go lighter? I'd hate to go too light again. I was up to 25 lbs. for lower body (squats etc.) when I had it before, and I've not let myself go that heavy again because I feared I'd injure it again. I am planning on Advil, heat/ice on it. Suggestions?

Which exercise are you doing when this has happened to you?0 -
Are you doing the exercise properly?
If it's painful, then cut down on the amount of reps you're doing. Only do a small amount until you've built up your muscles enough. 5-8 reps per set in 3 sets.0
