Sam's Club NSV

I go to Sam's club about once every two months, and REALLY stock up on things. I normally buy a lot of meat and freeze it, but have always been too lazy to divide the meat into more "family friendly" packages (9 THICK pork chops for my family of three is really too much). So I end up cooking the whole thing at once, and then eating more than I should (and still wasting some of the food).
As soon as I got home today, I divided everything into individual freezer bags AND wrote the name (90% lean beef, etc.) and approximate weight on each bag. Now I'm going to have a much easier time sticking to calories when I cook AND I won't be wasting money.

great job! i do the same! not only does it make it easier to eat healthy, but it just makes it so easy to thaw just the right amount for the evening's meal.0

Great! I portion out all those sorts of things (I also do it with casseroles ). It really does make life easier later to just pull out what you need for that night's dinner0

We always package things in packs of 3 for dinner as well, but there is always way too much pork or chicken or whatever leftover. I am going to freeze individually now to...thanks for reminding me! And way to go on taking charge!0

Great job. We always buy in buik because it is a lot cheaper. I suggest investing in a vacuum sealer. My husband likes to plant a garden in the summer and it is great for putting vegetables in the freezer. They do not get freezer burn and taste terrific. If you are tired when you get home, you can put the bag in a pot of boiling water. Its quick and easy.0

Great job! I always put the date on them, too, so I know that I need to hurry up and use it. Of course, most of the meat doesn't make it to the point where this happens but other things do.0

Great Job.
That's what I like about MFP. It helps people develop healthy habbits. Well done. I started using a vacuum sealer (Black and Decker model which works much better than food saver model) that makes the meat last even longer in the freezer.0 -
