You want to get ride of belly fat and bloat. Beer is the worst thing you could be drinking0
-
go full strength.
have it for a treat every once in awhile and enjoy it. just don't do like i did this summer.....slapped on a nice 10 lb belt mostly from suds. and yes...damn I love Bud too!
:drinker:0 -
Budweiser? Really?!0
-
I don't have an answer. I myself drink Bud Light and LOVE it. I also refuse to give up beer. I don't like the Select so I drink what I like. I just try to not drink it too often.0
-
Have you tried microbrew? I refuse to give up beer as well, I drink a lot of microbrew with 6% or higher, so basically I drink less beer but get a "buzz" a lot faster!0
-
Never crossed my mind to give up beer, or anything i like for that matter. But if I drank yankee beer I would. :devil:0
-
Well, I feel the same way about 1/2 & 1/2. I tried the fat free kind, thanks to my son he had brought me some. And you know what.....to me it tastes DISGUSTING!!!!! So now I am back to my regular 1/2 & 1/2 and it's ok.
I am willing to give up EVERYTHING except that. I think I've made enough sacrifices alone the way for a more healthy attitude.
I hope this helps you......0 -
I think your fine to drink it in moderation. I refuse to give up my wine and vodka too!0
-
Definitely dont give up beer! Try a few of the lower cals beers though. There are some that I HATE. And then there are some that I love.0
-
Well...as far as alcohol goes I think your best bet for pure drunkenness is Vodka (with or without some diet beverage)
If you're going beer Guinness isn't too too bad. 210 calories per pint (16 oz).
I've tried the light beers like Mic Ultra, Bud 55, etc. They all pretty much just remind you of beer and make you wish you were drinking something better.
Just drink the beer you like and make it in MFP and keep your cals under the goal and then who cares if you live on beer.
I love it. In fact I'm a brewer but I've mostly given it up except as a treat at least while I'm trying to lose. It's hard to think how long I have to spend on the elliptical machine to burn off 1 or two beers. So I;ve sworn of all caloric intake via drinks. I cheat sometimes though but I mark it in MFP.
Good luck and cheers.0 -
Try Coors Light - it's 4.2% and only 8 calories for a 275ml bottle :drinker:0

Whatever you do, don't try the MGD 64 Lemonade. It's 64 calories of butt-flavored nastiness. No lie. Even the guys in my office (who will drink just about anything) won't touch it.
I would just account for it in your daily calories and drink what you like.0 -

To make LIFESTYLE Changes YOU MUST be REALISTIC about Who YOU ARE! But keep in mind having that beer EVERY WEEK is probably one reason you are on MFP! I can't drink like I used to (Thank GOD); but I do have some wine or beer now and then. If you need a "BUZZ" every week you may try drinking a shot or 2 of liquor and a couple of beers on the side, especially if you drink 1-2 six packs a week for that buzz.0 -
ok .. so i should have added..that i dont drink but maybe one night a week..and i usually dont drink very much..so its not like im downing beers every night...
I dont think its unrealistic to want to keep beer in my diet.. I do however think it IS unrealistic to give up everything and be happy.0 -

Now if I could find a tasty cyder with as few calories and we'd be sorted :laugh:0 -
I gave up my bourbon at the start of my journey, just so I could get a better feel for what I should& shouldn't be eating.
I made some progress & raised my calorie intake since then and now I can happily enjoying a few bourbons & coke zero's a night if I plan for it. So definitely not unrealistic to keep beer in your diet, just be prepared for the calorie spike.
Perhaps exercise more on the day you're planning on drinking.
Definitely try the other light/low carb beers out there too.
If you're drinking to get buzzed, and it really is 1 full strength = 2 lights, well I would still stick to the lights as you may end up drinking less and therefore save yourself some calories.
If simply getting buzzed/drunk is your goal, move onto spirits with a low cal mixer0 -

If you're looking for a new brand you may consider the following. I've found if I want to catch a beer buzz and stay in the calorie window I simply have to go with light beers with high ABV ratings and the key is to eat a very light dinner. This works very well for me. Eating light keeps the days calories down and significantly reduces the beer it takes to get that warm glow.
:drinker:
Michelob Ultra 4.1% ABV for 95 calories
Miller lite 4.2% ABV for 96 Calories
I think natural light also has a high ratio but I don't enjoy that at all.
Oh and coors light isn't 8 calories, it's 80 for the 275 ml (102 for a full 12 ounce). She made a typo, missed the zero .0 -
I'm not saying Give Beer Up, but jeeez, if you're going to keep drinking it, you should at least drink something tastier than Budweiser. *shakes head*0

I don't know how much 275ml translates to but a 12-oz bottle has 102 calories. Not sure where you're getting your info from.0 -

Light beer can be deceiving, because the most caloric part of beer is alcohol. You want to get that buzz, but you don't want to have too many calories, and that can be quite the conundrum. In order to cut the calories in 'light' beers (and still be able to technically call them beer) brewers have to cut the alcohol content. Given the calorie and alcohol contents of budweiser and bud select, it stands to reason then, that to get the same effect you would essentially have to drink the bud select at a 2:1 ratio to the budweiser.
Would you rather drink twice as much beer, or have a few more calories? Trying to be healthier and controlling your calorie intake by way of drinking more beer seems a bit counter-intuitive, or eerily like alcoholism. When it comes down to it, opting for the light beer is a compromise that just doesn't seem to be worth it, who really drinks light beer just for the taste anyway? If you are not willing to give up your beer, as it is the one indulgence you continue to allow yourself, why ruin the experience of something you enjoy once a week by switching to something merely tolerable?
If you are drinking beer because you enjoy it, stick with what you actually like, you will appreciate the indulgence more. Just because it is called 'light' beer doesn't really make it any better for you, but buying twice as much beer as you normally would, can make things worse for your wallet and cause the people around you to look at you suspiciously and inquire as to your mental status.
P.S. I won't give it up either, you have to keep something for yourself!0 -
If I drank bud I'd count it towards my water intake....
I kid, but I couldn't give up beer either. Of course I prefer microbrews and sometimes calorie information is harder to come by. Even when it's there it's usually a disappointing 200+ calories per bottle.
If I plan on having a few beers I try to work out a little extra or eat a little less throughout the day to make room for the extra calories. No way I could give it up completely and still be successful in a lifestyle change.0 -
BUSCH LIGHT!!!!!0

Budweiser? Really?!
