Water retention

Can anybody give me any advice, I suffer with water retention even though the food I am eating on my diet which averages 1400 cal a day is sufficient for me to lose weight and I also drink an average of 2 L of fluid per day. My problem is water retention it seems I go days and days without peeing, and of course the weight goes back on the only time I lose weight is when I start peeing lots. Has anybody out there had and suffers with the same problem. If you suffer with this have you found a solution to the problem, any suggestions would be appreciated.

    well as your male.. it can't be female hormones playing up!... erm... if you can't go for several days or only peeing tiny amounts.. could it be cystitis? (do blokes get that?)

    If I've eaten too many carbs and put water on I take water pills and it usually has gone back down in next day or two.

    Mine used to fluctate by 3-6lbs per day and then I went really low carb and switched to gluten free bread and when I stick to that I only fluctuate by 1 lb a day... sometimes I throw carbs in to confuse body so it doesn't get too used to low cals but find I have to use water tablets again to get the excess water back off before weigh-in.

    I think my above quote was a bit misleading I do pee, I don't go days without peeing it just seems that the amount of liquid I am drinking my body is hanging onto it. And I have to go quite a few days before it seems i pee that much more. And then I lose

    I was looking for a way of being stable instead of fluctuating up and down due to water retention.
    You know us men we can't explain ourselves properly.

    Dude, it is not normal to go days without peeing. See a doctor stat.

    Have your kidney function checked. If you sweat alot, maybe you arent drinking enough water, even if it seems to you that you are. Watch sodium intake, that will make you retain water also. Also depending on age it could be prostrate issues blocking you from going to the bathroom as needed. I'd go to the dr stat, cause no matter what thats not normal. Output should equal intake, if not exact, then close.

    Remember that while we all say we want to lose weight, what we really want to do is lose fat. When you gain weight via water retention, you're not gaining fat. You're still losing fat if you're sticking to your diet, so don't worry about the number on the scales showing a gain.

    If your water retention really is that bad, I'd still see a doctor though. It might not be negatively effecting your fat loss, but it may be a sign of other health issues, and you can never be too safe when it comes to your health.
