Plateau :(

I have hit a bit of a plateau this week. I had lost 8kg in 6 weeks so my motivation has been right up there. I expected that I would reach a plateau at some stage. I've watched so much "Biggest Loser" and I know it happens there. I have read heaps of articles and I read success tories of people who have passed that mark. I really thought I was prepared to accept the plateau as a normal part of the process, but you know what?

I burst into tears when the scales hadn't moved!

I totally didn't expect this reaction. I got straight onto the treadmill and ran and ran and ran, but wwas on the verge of tears all the way. Then I met with my wonderful personal trainer who tried to buck me up. I feel a bit better today, and now I'm waiting to see how the rest of the week goes and she's going to tweak my program if there's no change.

I guess the thing I have learnt from this is that you can be hit for six even if you think you're prepared and that support is so important. That's why sites like this one are great for all of us on this journey.

I saw someone post something about plateaus, they said something along the lines of to break through a plateau eat only 3 meals 300-500 cal each, and NO snacks. Drink all of your water, if not more and see what happens. They said that it helped them, and they saw it on the biggest loser.

I don't know if it helps at all....but good luck on your journey.

Try not to get too upset, that's just one week... Plateau is more when a few weeks in a row you're staying the same.
  • I was like that last week - i managed to lose 16lbs in 3 weeks and then it a plateau but 6 days later I managed to come out of it and now 21.6lbs lighter. Don't worry and don't get upset - you will get past it :)
