Strength training workout apps. Jefit, or ...?

I've been toying with the idea of tracking workouts using an app rather than good ole pen & paper. I've been using Jefit for a few workouts now. It's ok, but I don't love it. In fact, if it's between this and paper, I'll probably go back to paper.

What is the best app for logging and tracking strength training workouts?

Edit: might help to mention: Android OS.

I so used to log everything I did and became so OCD about it. Then about 10 years ago, I tossed the tablet into the trash. Since then I've been training basically on how my body feels. If I can lift more, I do. If I feel weaker, then I lift less. Personally what I've found is that I've been able to focus more on the workout then worrying about making sure I put down the right reps and weight used.
I know this doesn't help you, but I did just want to let see that when it comes to training, not everything on paper (or an app) is necessary.

Some day maybe I can be less OCD. But not ready for that yet :)

I had a look at that Je fit one and to be honest most of the exercises on there are just fluff ones.

As I stick to the basics, it wasn't of much benefit to me.

I personally log all my workouts on another website. It's handy to be able to go back and check things etc. Especially if you are doing a regular progressive loading program.

So for me, I would just say to stick with pen & paper if that is what was working for you. And like you, I'm very structured in my workouts. I know exactly what I am doing (or aiming to do at least) before I get in there. Definitely helps me focus.

I have an app called fitbuilder. I use it to build strength training and yoga workouts and then track the weights and sets i do. Not sure if it's your style since you're way more hardcore than me! But they do have it on android so might be worth looking into at least!

I'm fairly new to weight training and have been using jefit to log my workouts, mainly so I can remember what weight I did last time as I try to settle into a routine. Once I get more "in tune" with what I can lift how many times, I'll probably stop logging. before Jefit I was just using a basic spreadsheet from quickoffice which worked well. I only went with jefit because I can't get quickoffice on my tablet without paying for it ($15).

IIRC, you can log routines in the strength training section of the exercises on MFP, can't you? At least then everything is in 1 place. Not sure how functional it is on the android app as opposed to the website though.

I just found NOOM on my android. So far it has been fairly accurate with my Cardio workouts (even has a GPS feature which is cool) they have strength and circuit and yoga, so you can log all that.

or are you looking for more of a "I lifted XX lbs today for XX reps" kinda thing? cos that is not noom I dont think
  • I use JEFIT every day and love it. It has an array of excercises, I have never tried to add an excercise that wasn't in their database. It tracks everything... I love it and use it to help motivate me, always pushing for that next personal record..... I have turned several people at work onto JEFIT, they all love it as well, many gave up their old workout tracking app because JEFIT was just so much better......

There's a 5x5 app out there that is pretty good.

For simply recording what you have done the android app on MFP works fine.
