just checking in with the 20 minute work out. Squeezed it in while the kids were napping. Planning on working out more later just had a bunch of energy and wanting to burn it off. haha.0

Hey janet,
i wear my hrm during TS and my heart rate definitely gets up there! about 140-145 so it's burning calories. I probably burn about 175-200 in a workout, but I burn low.

Hi everyone..
I'm checking in with CP3, I really like it but the music is a litle lacking unfortunetly.. I couldnt finish the whole dvd as I was wiped and I couldnt concentrate on the moves and follow them.. But I stayed til 5 mins after the Turbo so I did over 30mins of a workout... I'm still in awe of everyone who can do more than 1 dvd!
Also I think there maybe something wrong with my HRM, I know I was wiped but by HRM was beeping away at 137.. Maybe I'm just having an off day :noway:
Anyways, only 1 day left til I fly into Boston CANNOT wait !! Sephora here I come!
Edit to Add - CONGRATULATIONS JANET!! :flowerforyou: 14lbs is such a brilliant loss ! You have to celebrate!
That's funny that you mentioned the music lacking cuz I didn't notice that until just the other day...and I've been doing cp3 for months now. As far as music I think CP actually has the best/motivating music.. Proud of you for getting thru most of the workout.
Check your settings on your HRM. Make sure your weight, height, age and everything are correct. Also make sure that if you have a chest strap it is on tight and that you moisten the "sensor" areas. If you are doing all of that and it's still beeping at you...then you are out of your zone. If it's a slow beep you need to step up the intensity, if it's a fast beep you need to lower your intensity.
Have fun on your vacation!!
thanks!! I am trying to pack everything now as I have loads to do tomorrow and have to get the dogs sorted and drive them to their new home for the next couple of days! (You'd swear they were kids by the way I talk!)
I really enjoyed the moves in CP3, especially the opening, and I like that there was less "skip rope/ jumping on the spot" parts!
I must read up the HRM manual as I changed a few settings the other day and maybe i messed it up a bit!0 -
Just tagging the thread so I can come back to the land of the living tomorrow. Miss you girls! I'll try to catch up tomorrow at some point, but the kids all had the green snot monsters at bed time so I'm buckling down for a week of grossness. :sick:0

Turbo Jam is awsome. 24 hour fitness teaches a class that is very close to it. TKB, (Turbo Kickboxing). I don't know how many calories you burn, but I have done both the dvd and 24 hour fitness. It is soo great for your stomach and calorie burn. There are several dvd to it, and each one is geared toward something a bit different. Within each dvd, you will get a one minute turbo, which is a fast pace calorie burning of the entire cd. Some of the dvds will offer 2- 4 turbos. I love kickboxing and have not found any other full body cardio that works as good, burning that many calories. But, mix it up, because your body will become use to the same thing. Do turbo 2-3 times a week, then try other cardio, I like a variety as not to get bored, but all are full body workouts, and three to 4 days a week include cardio and weights. A lot of work , but in the end worth it. As the old saying goes, you will never say. "I wish I would not have done that". Good luck0

Hi Everybody,
Have had back to back phone calls (which so could have waited til after my workout) and now I don't want to do my work. I want to eat, lay in the bed and watch biggest loser, LOL!!!! How ironic!!
Thanks goodness for DVR. I'm not going to do that - I'm going downstairs and do CP2 or 3.
I just had to write it down!
Thanks for helping me be accountable ~ love you guys

The moves will definitly come to you. Turbo is much easier than step. The moves are eventually all the same throughout each video. The difference is that some dvds are longer and faster. Take it one step at a time, you will get it. I have been doing it for 3 years, and can go to a class with any instructor now, and know the moves. Once you understand what Charlene calls her moves you will get it. She is very easy to follow. You will see results in your torso, develop balance, and it is great for your core. Good luck:happy:0

Try Crystal light, (Rasberry Ice) and Vodka, and if you need a little pep, add sugarfree Red bull. It is like cranberry juice and vodka. But, Crystal light has no calories. Go easy on the Vodka. But, it is definitly lower calorie than beer. Oh, a good low fat german beer is Becks light, 64 calories. You can also go to the Crystal light website for other cocktail ideas. My friend makes margaritas out of their lime and lemon mix. Enjoy:drinker:0

Morning ladies! I did the 20 min abs last night and boy oh boy am I feeling them this morning! :grumble:  Haha! How do you log the ab work out? Also, I have the gloves, but am unsure of when I should be wearing them. Is it with a specific dvd or with any of them?
I am working a little later today, but hope to get something in when I get home.0 -
Hi everyone,
Have room for one more? I don't know that I will be posting very often, but I will check in when I can.
I just started Turbo Jam this week. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet since I am trying to get used to the moves. I did feel it in my butt the next morning, so I am sure it works. I have been sick so I haven't been pushing too hard. I'm ready to feel better and get the burn on. I may attempt the 20 minute today. I've only done the Burn twice so far. I will give it a go and see what happens!

Good Morning Ladies!
Janet...WTG pushing through your workout. I usually get a call about 15 mins into my workout, then I try to convince myself that it was long enough and I don't have to finish. But I know what you mean about accounability...I usually post what I'm going to do before I do it, so I always finish, otherwise the guilt will haunt me.
So having said that, I'm going to do CP2 and Ab Jam now...
Welcome mechanicmom! :flowerforyou: I'm sure once you get used to the moves you'll be as addicted to TJ as we are!
Amanda, good job on the workouts...I love Ab Jam! I wear my gloves for all of the cardios...CP1, 2, 3, PK&J, etc. The only time I don't is when I'm using weights or the band (can't hold the band with the gloves on ) I don't wear them for Ab Jam either, although I guess I could...
Have a great day everyone!

Thanks Megan! I am contemplating doing CP tonight. I'm just nervous I won't be able to handle 45 minutes!!! Ack!0

thats my progress since starting turbo jam 8 weeks ago. and changing my eating patterns. I haven't done any other work outs other than turbo jam (except I did do yoga the first week) and it really will get your butt in shape!!! lol Its the only workout I've ever done that actually has taken inches off my thighs. I'VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO TAKE INCHES OFF MY THIGHS. Its also the only work out that I've actually looked forward to. The work outs just fly by!!! I def. recommend it to anyone.

I saw your pictures last week and I called my friend and we both ordered turbo jam. They are really inspirational! I am no where near your first picture but it gives me hope. I only did the burn yesterday to learn the moves, but my body feels it today. I know it's going to work me over.
Thanks for sharing.0 -
Oops! I'm new to this site and it doesn't show the quotes around your pics. It's definitely not me. Sorry!0

MM-So happy to see you!!! Welcome to our thread! I hope you will visit us often. I know you are a busy lady. Sorry you aren't feeling well. It's funny I've been doing TJ for about 8 months now and I am just starting to feel it in my buns on a daily basis! I hope you love TJ as much as we all do!
Janet-turn your phone OFF when you workout. Kelly taught me that one....and it's working! Good for you for pushing thru!
Amanda did you do your cardio with gloves? How did it go? Good job gettin thru all 20 mins of AbJam. I usually do the first 10 and stop!
Saran-Welcome to the group! I'm glad Whitney's pics inspired you to join us. She has definately had amazing results! I've been at this for a while now and my stomach doesn't look like hers either....but her starting point is WAY below my goal  You will definately see and feel your own results quickly I'm sure of it.
Whitney-congrats on inspiring and converting Saran to join us. You definately have the proof in the pics!0 -

Hey thank you!!!! As of today I've lost 20 pounds with Turbo Jam. It really is life changing. Its something you can easily stick to cause its fun and up beat and they give you different options so you can switch it up and make it fit to your schedul and comfort level. Glad you started it Did you love it?? and yeah it will work your whole body! thats why its so great!!!! Good Luck on your weight loss journey!!0 -
Sara-glad you made it back to the land of MFP safely. Sorry your kids are not feeling well. Hope you and your hubby are emotional okay. (((Hugs)))
Well, its just another day here. I'm hoping hubby will take the older kids away for the morning. I plan on getting another good workout in today...just not sure what. I haven't done PK&J for a while...maybe I'll do that today. I've been slacking on my push ups for the last 3 weeks...need to get back into that as well.
I hope everyone has a great day. Keep Jammin0 -
drevensmom...still learning names no have not tried the gloves. I may do that tonight. I am thinking about taking a break tonight, but not really sure about that. I know I won't tomorrow night so I really need to tonight. Maybe I will try with gloves.0
-
Hi Drevan's Mom ! I sent you a PM ! Hopefully you got it0
-
Checkin in....hubby took all kids so instead of Jammin I decided to go for a jog...well after the first 5 minutes I realized my HR (and asthma) couldn't handle it so I walked briskly (HR stayed around 150). I burned 470 cals in 2 miles...Not too shabby!
mbmempireranch-got your PM I'll respond when I have a minute...must shower before the kids get home.0 -
Hey Everybody,
Lots of new faces!! So glad you all are here. I love TJ , have had success with it ( lbs, inches , strength and endurance) It's the most fun working out I've ever had and I am sticking to it!! So welcome one and all. I followed her advanced workout schedule for the first week (i had already been working out) then once I got the moves I've been able to tailor it to fit my schedule and weight loss goals.
My body looks and feels totally different since I started this past Jan and I look forward to continued changes. I hope you newbies will give it a try and stick with it long enough to see the results - you'll be glad you did. I'm 47 and have never had definition in my stomach area. I'm here to tell you I do now and it's all b/c of TJ. Like Chalene says " it's never too late to get the abs you want" I am not where I desire to be but I am no where near where I used to be, and it feels great!!
Checking in w/ 20min TJ so far plan on CP3 and Ab Jam with the phone off after work ( thanks Drevans)!! I did do PK & J and got to watch Biggest loser .. but I fell asleep during the weigh in! Guess what I'll be doing after the workout tonight??
Great job to all for keeping up with your workouts ~ you continue to inspire me!!
just wanted to check in ~ time to head back to work!

I didn't feel much like bouncing around today (TOM) so I did Turbo Sculpt. I didn't use weights since it was my first time. I don't think I did the best job doing the moves because I really don't feel like I got that great of a work out. I guess if I am sore tomorrow then I know that I worked out harder than I thought. Next time I do it I will try with weights. At least I did something! It's probably the most exercise I've gotten in about two weeks, so that makes me feel better.

Well, I was able to get off work early today. I tried to do CP1 with my gloves. First time and I lasted 15 minutes. I am telling myself, hey it was something...plus, I'm about to go start scrubbing the boat. So, that should burn some calories! I will say that I definitely could feel how sore my abs were with this workout!!!0
-
I changed my mind...my thighs are already sore.

Ok checking in with cardio party 1!!! It kicked my butt big time tonight!!!!! I'm still trying to recover... (I was done about 5 minutes ago!) hope everyone had a good night!0

I changed my mind...my thighs are already sore.
MM
 I felt the same way after my first time....it didn't hit me immediately, but when it finally came on boy could I feel it. Glad you were able to do something...hope you continue to feel better.0 -
Janet you're how old? :noway: SHUT UP! You and Megan....WOW I'm totally jealous of you beautiful YOUNG looking women.
Amanda great job on your fifteen minutes, next time it will be 18
Whitney- Great job on your workout as well. CP really is a rough workout....it was weeks (maybe months) before I could do it without dying right after the turbo.
Sara and Kelly I hope you are lurking. We love and miss both of you. Heck we love and miss everyone. I love to see new faces but feel lost when the old faces don't return.
Night all!0 -
Morning ladies!! I'm not feeling up to par this morning. Woke up late and with a scratchy throat Took some allergy meds. Going to really focus on my water. Which I've done really good with the past 2 days
I am sore sore sore today. Can still feel the abs and can feel the muscles in my back. Wow! Not working out today. My son is having a tooth pulled. But I'm hoping to clean more on the boat. Let me tell ya,I'm making myself squat instead of sitting on a seat or something.
Janet...47??? Oh my! You look wonderful!!!
eta: I weighed in this morning. Lost 2 lbs.
oh, and if anyone is interested, I have found a fabulous black bean quesadilla on Women's Health. Even the boyfriend loves it.0 -
I did 20 minutes today. Still trying to get all the moves but I did work up a little bit of a sweat. I'm not much of a dancer (or shaker) so I am probably not burning as much as I could. But I did it!
