Is everyone following the recommended calories, or is anyone changing theirs to make it lower? Just wondering.

I follow the plan to lose 1lb per week...0

I follow the MFP allotted calories for 1lb loss per week and I usually do eat most of my "exercise" calories. I do have a "treat" meal every week BUT I do log it.0

While I was losing I had to make the calories much much higher.0

I go with what they recommend. I figure I did what I thought was right and it landed me 80lbs over weight... it is time I trust someone else.0

I followed what MFP gave me until i stayed the same weight for around a month...i've lowered my exercise to twice a week and it's lowered by calories and touch wood i'm loosing again. however i'm finding it harder to get to 1200 now i'm on the slightly lower calories but i think that's phycological!0

MFP say I should have close to 1800 I did the custom to 1600 what my nutritionist recommend but I usually eat around 1200 and I do not eat my exercise calories.0

It tells me to eat 2,040 which is quite a lot. I try to get there, but it's hard. You should never net below 1200 calories though!0

Yes, if you input an entry under 1200 in to MFP it tells you your putting your body in starvation mode.0

When I was losing, I had to set my calories higher than what MFP recommended.0

I put mine lower, because my doctor recommended 1400 to me. I figured I'd try it her way and if it didn't work I'd try MFP's way. So far her way is working, but I imagine so would MFP's!0

I'm using MFP suggestion of 1200 a day. Some days I go over by a little , sometimes I am a little below. I've been losing almost a pound a day since I started!0

I started off at 1200 and lost a few pounds slowly, so I bumped it up to 1400. I'm losing quicker now (average 2 lbs a week) on 1400 and the same amount of exercise than I was on 1200. This past week I've been purposely fluctuating between 1200 and 1400 each day just to mix it up a little and it seems to be going well.0

I had my resting metabolic rate tested with a nutritionist, and with the results she did the math and recommended that I eat 1300 calories per day. My RMR was 1480, which is pretty low, hence the low calorie recommendation. I eat an additional 200 calories for every 30 minutes of hard workout that I do (anything that gets my heart rate over 145), but max that out at 1700. It's working pretty well for me.0
