Question on the treadmill
Bellyroll

Hello,
ok so my plan was to walk on the treadmill for an hour and of course it gives the cals burn. I know that those are are not the best for getting the actual cals burn so should I use MFP cals or the cals from the treadmil. I would use my heart rate monitor but the treadmill makes my heart rate monitor got wacky from 100-240-280 and then it stops and restarts.

I use MFP calories - treadmills tend to overstate the number of calories burnt.
How do you find the heart rate monitor usually? I'm thinking about getting one0 -
I really like my heart rate monitor. I find that it vary s on how hard I work out for example I bellydance and sometimes I am over the amount of cals that it states because I am super into it. Then there are times when I am just like naaaaaaa I dont want to do this but I have to move, so it goes like really under compared to MFP. But I like it because it knows when I am bulls***ing and when I am not VS MFP does not.0

If your treadmill has to insert age and weight then it would be more accurate than MFP.
For example I use my treadmill for 15min warm-up at 3.0-4.0 with some inclination MFP puts it as 111 calories
my treadmill actually records it as 74.0 -
I believe the treadmill is measuring calories burned by the speed and belt movement of the machine which would be an average if you only moved your legs. An accurate heart rate monitor is the best things and the MFP tracker is a better average than the treadmill because it goes by your weight and age. If you do more movement with your arms while on the treadmill such as pumping of arms or punches etc you will burn more calories and help tone arms too!0

That's weird. Have you tried linking it away from the treadmill? Or chec
king the battery or owners manual? I would go with mfp because machines usually over estimate.
@ alex- you can find them at sporting stores, amazon, ebay. The most recommended one for basic exercise tracking is Polar models. There are also gps watches and watches that are a combo of both. And then there's body Bugg and body media fit that you wear all day. Google and you'll find out a lot.0 -

I'll keep an eye out for the Polar ones then, thanks!0
