Creatine....

My doctor told me today that he wants me to start taking 5 g of Creatine a day to help rebuild my muscles/strength due to the loss my disorder has caused. Has anyone had any experience with Creatine? Any side effects? My husband said that he's been told that if you aren't careful you could gain weight with it and you have to drink LOTS of water. I can't really work out right now due to the disorder and I don't want to add weight that will be as difficult to get off as the weight I'm already trying to lose.

I'm (of course) going to follow what my doc says but I would simply like to know what I'm getting into. Any info/insights/experiences/stories would be appreciated. I'm just trying to gather info.

Thanks!

    Creatine doesn't build muscle.

I take Gluetimine I think it is it. It helps move or block the acid build up in the muscles. I have been on it for a few day and I take it at night or after a workout.

Too soon to say if it is working. I mix it into the protein shake.

Maybe I should clarify that I am experiencing muscle fatigue/aches & pains due to my immune system attacking them and attempting to break them down. It's my belief that his intentions are to take some of the soreness & pain away so that I am able to function more. I'm 33 years old and can barely hold a pasta pot that is filling with water without dropping it &/or hurting while I hold it. I have a very difficult time opening anything such as a jar or bottle and sometimes I should be walking with a cane because I'm so slow & it's difficult to move (but I'm too stubborn to do that). Like I said, I can't workout right now to help strengthen because my fatigue would compromise my form. I'm in the middle of having more tests run so that we can determine what else is going on. This is something to help give extra support to what little strength I have left.
