OMG I'm starving

I'm always very hungry after going to the gym/working out the night before. My tummy is rumbling despite the fact that I had porridge and a hard boiled egg for brekkie at 8am.
Waiting on a work colleague so we can get a cup of tea (not for me!) and a banana. I have brown bread/lemon curd with me also so I might grab a slice also. Lunch is at 12pm so not that long to wait but my stomach is eating itself from the inside, I'm sure of it!!!!!!!!!!

After having an ever so quick look at your diary, I would suggest lowering your rate to 1lb a week, so that you might come up over 1200 calories. This will give you a few more calories to play with to help stop the tummy rumbling Oh and don't forget to eat back your exercise calories.0

I normally have to eat within 1 hour of getting up or I'm starving too. Can you eat something small on your way to work? I eat a cheese stix or too on my drive in. The protein seems to stay with me for several hours.0

Embrace your hunger pains as "your friend."
What is in porridge?0 -
I know the feeling exactly! I am sat at my desk trying desparately to resist snacking as well!
Why is it so hard to be good?! Hunger is so difficult to ignore.
Are you hydrated enough? I read somewhere that a lot of times when we feel hungry, it's actually dehydration. Try downing a pint of water and see if it helps!

I do believe I'm more starving.0

It could be the Ghrelin monster. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghrelin
Our bodies produce this hormone which promotes hunger; and prevents us from starving. Once the ghrelin hits a certain level, we tend to binge; well I know I do. However, the good news is that it can be kept at bay by "grazing" throughout the day. Eat something within the first hour of waking up. Work into your meal plans some snack time.
Here's another good link: http://www.thatsfit.com/2010/01/08/dr-oz-the-chemicals-sabotaging-your-diet/
Hope this helps.0 -
What do you eat after your workout at night? You need to replenish your body with protein after your workout. On my plan it is encouraged to eat 2 oz of lean protein for a mid morning snack. You should not get to the point of feeling starving it will cause overeating. At least that is what it does for me. We have church on Sunday that last 3 hours with drive time its 4 hrs between meals and I am always starving when coming home for lunch and I am still hungry right after eating it. Are you drinking enough water? Sometimes your body might think hungry and just be dehydrated. Hope your tummy stops rumbling soon.0

If you are having a stomach that is rumbling and you are feeling true hunger and discomfort you should eat a little something and drink some water. Otherwise when you do sit down for a meal you might have a tendency to shovel it in and over eat.0 -
No, no one can be as hungry as I was! Just had some of my banana so that's got me on the way to non-starvation mode!
Porridge: I have ground flaxseeds/goji berries/sesame etc with it plus some natural sweetner.
Plenty hydrated although I work in a lab and i've been in there all morning so a little dehydrated but normally drink loads of water at my desk.
Hunger going away now. Lunch isn't too far off and it homemade chilli con carne with a baked potato. Yumo0 -
pickles...one word for not starving...0 calories for kosher dill (my favorite)0

Why don't you work in a mid-morning snack? I don't know what time you eat breakfast, but I know with myself, if I eat breakfast before 8am, then there's no way that I'll last until 12 for lunch. I usually eat an apple and sometimes a piece of cheese or some peanut butter around 10am.0

Hi,
I used to feel the same way until I found out why. You can eaither eat 5 small meals a day or 3 big meals a day. My friend who is an aerobic instructor informed that I should eat something small every 2 hours and it should contain protein. not only does it make you feel full but it also helps build muscle and muscle burns fat. So why not pack a lunch that contains atleast 4 to 5 small meals.0 -
Strange as I had a reply done and saw it but it doesn't appear! Odd.
Anyway,
water: I normally drink alot of water throughout the day, I work in a lab and have been in there all morning hence not drank alot.
Banana consumed, hit the spot straigtaway.
Porridge: I put ground nuts with it plus some natural sweetner.
I could take something in the car to work alright. Will have to have a think of what to take that won't impact my cals alot.0
