This is at least the third time this article has been posted here. I honestly don't see what's great about it. They don't give any data to back up what they are saying, so I have no idea if their conclusions are based on legitimate, useful studies, or maybe a study of 10 people under very specific unrealistic circumstance. They don't indicate whether you'd have to continue that caloric deficit for the rest of your life or for one year. I think this article is useless. All it's really saying is "OMG YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAT FOREVERS."0

People gain weight after reaching their goal because most go back to eating the way they did before they started.0

It's based on biology and anatomy. It is not saying you will be fat forever, it is saying be careful after reaching your goal weight and don't assume you can eat anything you want. It is important to give your body time to adjust. It explains why most people gain back their weight after going off there diet. This article is to remind or educate people that once you hit your goal weight, you are not done. It also supports the idea that diets don't work, but lifestyle changes do. The weight gain that alot of people get after they reach their goal weight is what discourages people from trying again. This article is helping those people that become discouraged with weight gain after they reach their goal by telling them they can achieve their healthy weight and stay there. That is what I read.0 -
so would that mean in when I get to my goal weight and my bmr would be around 1600 calories I could eat around 1200 not to gain0

In case you don't have time to read the article it's conclusion is you must exercise 1 hour EVERY DAY to maintain your weight loss. Forget the much tossed around adage of exercising for 30 minutes 3x per week. Yipee.0

I don't think so, it means that you need to keep counting your calories and figure out what is best for your maintenance intake by figuring out if the amount you are eating is making you gain, lose or stay the same. And then readjust it as time goes on and your body changes.0
