Well first off I'm new here so hi :) I'm Lacrisha mother of 3 with 50lbs to lose. My question is does anyone else spot a lot when they workout? I have been working out for less then 3 weeks and I started my period right after starting then I have been randomly spotting the rest of the time. Is it like serious and I should see my doctor? Or is it common and will fix itself? I have a copper iud so pregnancy is only like a .02% chance.

actually I have not had one since I started working out, my body is weird...
  • I've never experienced this... You may want to get it checked out.

Hmm...this doesn't happen to me, but for all I know it could be common. Still, I think it's more important if this is something that's common with you - in the past have you spotted occasionally/are your periods irregular? If so, it might not be anything to worry about, but if typically you have super regular periods and don't spot at all outside of them, I think it might be worth giving your doctor a call!

I have never spotted when I work out, but sometimes it does induce uterine cramps. It also makes me have to pee a lot. Isn't that weird?

I've been spotting/bleeding for 12 weeks haha But I know that alot of women stop their periods when they start working out. It's like a shock to the system. I'd wait it out.

What my Dr told me to do about the spotting when I was on the depo was take 800mg (4 pills) of ibuprofen, 3x a day, for 5 days, with food and that should lighten it/make it stop. Might wanna try that?

hey! i had a copper IUD back in the 70's (I know, I'm old - LOL) I worked out fairly hard then and never spotted. I don't want to suggest something is wrong BUT I would run this past your Dr. just to be sure. Spotting can happen for so many reasons.......and they all can be fixed so don't worry. Give the Doc a call!

I'd get that checked out if it was me.... Wonder if it has to do with your IUD? Good luck and take care of yourself.

Sounds like this is abnormal for you. I suggest you get checked out by a doctor.

800mg of Ibuprofen 3x per day is an awful lot, so for the OP I would wait and discuss that with my doc before trying it out.

I just realized you said you had Paragard. If i had an iUD, I'd almost certainly bleed too since my exercise causes cramping.

Spot a lot? You really aren't lifting when you are spotting. You are just kinda watching.......and then it hit me what you mean... what is imagined can not be unimagined...

This hasn't happen to me either. I would get it check out ,cause there are other things that can cause you to spot.

Go to your Dr ~ friend of mine was spotting like that (she doesnt work out tho) and it was an issue with the IUD.
I dont know if you're new to that, but they have been known to cause issues for some women.
It could have moved, up or down and in the process scratched you.

Dont want to scare you but when my friend went she had to have hers taken out under 'emergency' circumstances.

Uhhhhh.....can't say I've experienced this. But the phrase "blood, sweat and tears" just took on a whole new meaning.

How long have you had the IUD? I've had the mirena in since July and I spot all the time because of it... working out starts it up too. If mine doesn't stop soon, I am going to ask a doctor probably.
  • Thanks ladies I guess I should call my doctor. I have had my iud for about 13 months. Lol but "blood, sweat, and tears" cracks me up :)
  • Did the same thing a while back when I started working out, but I was in some pretty terrible pain from it too and as it turned out, I had a prolapsed uterus, hopefully that's not the problem with you, but I also hope it's scares you enough that you go get it checked out, lol. Good luck, hope it's nothing serious!

actually that is the top of the therapeutic dose.
