Right now i do not exercise at all.
I am not really that interested in going to a gym or anything like that. I saw a zumba dance commercial late one night and it looked fun.
I am considering getting a dvd workout because i wouldn't really be comfortable going to a class.
Has anyone tried the zumba dvd's and/or classes before ?
How did it go ?

I do it on the Wii and I love it! Great workout and no one can see me looking all crazy trying to keep up! :laugh:0

i have done both. if you dont want to go to the class, the dvds are a great workout and fun!0

i have zumba on xbox kinect and love it i also go zumba class once a week0

I own the DVDs which got me started. It was a great start too. I learned the moves and loved dancing.
Then I sought out classes at the community center. $5 a class for an hour of dancing made it even better. There is something about being in a room full of people dancing and sweating. It was great.
Now I go twice a week to the YMCA and do a hour class each time. I've even participated in Zumbathons where we dance for 2 hours.0 -
Zumba is awesome but you need to find a good class, good luck x0

HAHA same here!!! I'm pretty sure I don't look like the people on TV doing it. Probably more like an insane woman! But I'm moving!!0 -
I go to the classes 3-4 times a week and love it0

I take a Zumba class 2 days a week and I LOVE IT!!! I have seen it on TV as well lately and I have thought about buying the DVD's. I really enjoy the class and really work up a sweat!
I just looked up a Zumba Calorie Calculator and it stated for a 205 lb person-moderate pace (able to talk/but breathing heavy) in a 60 minute class, I'd burn 670 calories.
Its fun and you get a good workout in! Hope that helps!0 -

I love Zumba, I've only tried actual classes but I'm sure the videos are great to. It is such a wonderful workout. Its so much fun the class just flies by.0

I have enjoyed zumba as part of my work out at Curves fitness for women. It's great and makes the work out more enjoyable.0

Yes, Try Zumba. It's a fun, fast workout. What I mean is that an hour of Zumba goes by quickly yet you know that you have worked out.0

Get yourself a heart rate monitor with a chest strap -- that site is extremely incorrect for most people.
It is several hundred calories off for me.0 -

At our gym, they turn the lights off and the teachers usually teach without a mic -- some of them bring a disco ball or electric candles and there is a lot of hooting and claping -- I cannot imagine its that much fun at home by yourself! I would go watch a class or two or three at your gym and see what you think -- every teacher and class is different.
If you have the discipline to do it at home though, please do! Zumba is a blast... I have no rhythm or grace and I go 5-7x a week. The other good thing at the gym is you meet people and they keep you accountable! I get messages on my facebook all the time asking if I'll be in class --- so I feel guilty if I skip now.0 -
I have zumba on the wii and it's tons of fun. If i get lost in the movements i'll just jog in place until i get back on track. Also, you can log in with a username and set up a calendar to keep track of when you workout next. Good luck!0

I don't have time or babysitter to go to a gym, so I work out with Zumba DVD’s since I rather dance than exercise. It's a great workout and I could feel the burn ... Since I liked Zumba, I went and bought Zumba Party on XBox 360 Kinect game, and I love it! Sporadically, I change my workout with Dance Central game (workout mode) and it’s also very effective. It’s interesting for those who want a fun and challenging workout. –On my personal opinion…0

I have two of the tapes i started doing them in June 2011...I'm not much of a dancer can't bust a move to save my life lol but in the privacy of my home i put them in 3x per week and I let it loose..i didn't see much results from it because i was not controlling my portions but since October 17th I've started calorie counting and its making a difference...give it a try, if you're a group person sign up for group lessons or buy the DVDs and do it in the comforts of your own home0

I love zumba! I go to a class 2-3 times a week. I have it for the wii but I enjoy the classes SO MUCH more. Don't worry about what you look like, most of the people are so focused on the instructor and doing it right themselves that they don't notice what you are doing.0

I go to Zumba classes at my rec center - $55 for a 10 punch pass. So worth it. I felt silly at first, but the movements are not natural, and everyone just accepts that. Once you've done it a couple times, muscle memory comes into play, its so much easier and you feel much more like a "dance crew" then a workout class. Its super fun. I highly recommend going to the classes vs. a DVD.
Oh - and I burn between 675-750 calories in 60 minutes. Not bad! (I wear a Heart Rate Monitor)0 -
I am a Zumba-aholic! I love it. I have the DVDs and the Wii Game. I also go to classes through our local community classes. One of my goals is to become a Zumba instructor one I reach my third weight loss goal!
You'd be surprised how much fun the classes are. While I think you will enjoy the DVDs, the classes offer great motivation because of the fun and laughter. You forget you are working out! In my classes, there are so many levels of dance experience that it doesn't matter if you have two left feet or salsa like you're born to do it.
If you want to try it out before you buy the DVDs, go to youtube.com and type in Zumba. There are lots of snippets to watch and try--or check to see if your local library has the DVDs.
Good luck and enjoy it!0 -
It is fun it is addictive and is hard when you first start but dont give up cause it is easier then the rest lol.0
