Im new and confused???

Are you supposed to eat your exersize calories?? Ive been sticking with my 1200 calories a day plus I burn at least 300 calories 5 nights a week by exersizing are you supposed to be eating those calories as well?? To lose weight??

    Yes you are supposed to eat your exercise calories ~ I often don't eat all of them back but always at least 50% of them. I've been lucky and have lost 22lbs since January :bigsmile: I'm at a bit of a plateau right now, but eating the exercise calories does seem to work.

    great thanks!! I have been dipping into my workout calories but not by much!! Ill start trying to eat them more..

    as for eating your exercise calories, everyone's opinion is different on that subject and everyone's body is different, it is more trial nad error. From my persoanl experience i don'tan't eat mine as i don't lose wieght i stay the same, on that bnote do what works best for you!

    I read an article recently (in SELF magazine) that said that if you work out 3 days per week for 30-45 minutes, then your normal daily intake is enough to refuel your body after working out BUT if you work out more often or more vigorously, you should eat healthy carbohydrate rich snack after working out IN ADDITION to your normal diet.

    This is rather arbitrary of them to say. How do they know how many calories I burn when I work out? Are they assuming I'm already at a caloric deficit? I find this irresponsible of them to say the least, it's articles like this that perpetuate the enormous amount of misinformation that is out there.

    sorry, got a little crazy for a second there. My point is, without knowing your own personal numbers and habits, they have no business telling you whether or not to eat those calories.

    i dont eat my exercise calories. i sometimes burn off 1000 calories in the vigorous exercise i do in an evening, there is no way i could eat all them. i stick to my 1200 calories a day, and burn what i feel i need to. i havent much more weight to go and i have lost near on 2 stone, taking 5 inches off my waist. it is lovely i have gone from a size 20 down to my 18s are falling down, btu cant quite get into a 16 yet comfortably.
