I just started working out yesterday after a LONG time. Just a bit of history- I am at my highest weight right now- 315; I broke my foot a year ago, which limited my movement and exercise for over 6 months; my feet hurt by the end of the day (mainly when its humid out); and my knees are starting to hurt when I go up or down the stairs. I joined the gym with my best friend; I went at 7am yesterday and 6am today. I did 40 minutes on the elliptical yesterday and 30 minutes today. I am TIRED. I didn't think that 30-40 minutes was too much to start. Is it?

I also wanted to start with weight training again- any good sites on how/when to start?

Thanks for your help!

Congrats on joining the gym! And really well done for getting their first thing in the morning. I've been attempting o do that for a while but never manage!

To be honest, 30-40 mins is actually pretty good. I've been told that the point of cardio is to break a sweat and keep you're heart rate up. 30-40 mins is fab. I generally don't last that long in on stretch because I get bored so try and vary my intensity. LOL. Anyway, if you feel you want to build on that and spend longer on the do it gradually. It takes the body time to recover after a workout so sometimes you wont be able to do what you did the day before! :)
