So proud of myself!!! During my workout tonight I ran for the first time on the treadmill!! It was only a total of 3 minutes but I did it!! Then I used the elliptical for the first time and I did 5 minutes!! Know it's not much but I am so proud of myself and wanted to share!!

It's not how long but the fact that you did it. Just because you see people all around you doing more than you, don't worry about it. Worry about doing more than you did yesterday. That's all that really counts.

And a year from now, when you realize you can actually run for 20 minutes and do so voluntarily, you'll be thinking "wow, last year at this time, the words I went for a run would never have come out of my mouth!"

    Gratz on your NSV!
  • That's awesome!! Keep at it.

Great!! I used the elliptical for 5 minutes before and it was too much for me! I don't care for that machine! I'd like to try running on the treadmill, but I'm scared of falling off! :-/

That is great! We all start at the bottom and work our way up, one minute at a time. Keep up the great work!!!
  • Great job! Keep up the good work :-) And if you're really interested in running, I HIGHLY recommend the Couch 2 5K program. It's an interval training program that takes you from couch potato to runner in 9 weeks. At the end of the program you will actually be able to run for 3 miles instead of 3 minutes!!

I felt the same about running but I just held on and it was fine. You don't realize how much room there really is

I'm in week two of C25K and I know exactly how you feel sdwelk11 - when I ran without stopping for a minute I was proud. You should feel so good about your accomplishment and be elated! Congratulations and keep pushing!

It feels so wonderful to do something you haven't been able to do before, or in a long time! I was thrilled about two weeks ago when I discovered that I could hop several times on each foot - it has been a while, between my weight, my weakness and bad knees. Boy, did I have a big smile on my face! You just keep at it, girl, and whatever you do today, try to do just a little more tomorrow - you'll be amazed at your progress... WTG!
