I do not have an issue at all with drinking water. I'll opt for water any day over juice and soda....however, I just simply cannot drink the recommended 8 glasses a day...Im just not thirsty. What should I do? I don't like to force myself to drink or eat anything....HELP!

Good way to make sure you get the amount of water is get yourself a nalgene 1lter bottle(you can check em out online) and just drink a couple of them throughout the day. a diaretic or caffeine helps with that too. lol0

I am not thirsty either....just hoping i will get into the habit and drink my water daily. I just bought a 24oz cup with a straw and keep it at my desk.....1/2 way thru the 1st cup so far.

I keep my water bottle between my keyboard and mouse so that it's in the way and reminds me to drink. You say you don't like "forcing" yourself to drink, but it shouldn't be that painful or difficult to get 8 glasses of water. Usually it's just a matter of not remembering until one is thirsty before we seek it out. If it's available you'll find yourself drinking it naturally, not forcing it.0

this is so funny, I just posted something about this. Your post exactly describes my water situation too. EXACTLY. My mom (who is ALWAYS on a diet) was recently complaining that she couldn't lose the last 4 or 5 lbs she wanted to, and was doing everything she could. She said she read something about drinking an insane ammount of water (like 10 cups/day) would get rid of the weight, and you know what? she did it, and she lost the weight lol. so I knew water was really good for you but just seeying it happen to her really pushed me to try to drink as much as possible.
SO. my trick is, put it in a cup. for some reason out of the bottle just doesnt do it for me. I feel like you get bigger gulps with a cup and its easier to drink. Try it out. Also like someone above said, if your on the go a lot, put the water in a BIG bottle that way you dont have to keep track of how many you've had, and just keep it at arms length and in eye view, don't stash it away because you'll forget. also, stop drinking water 2 hrs before bed or you'll be up peeying all night.0 -
The nutritionists and fitness consultants at my gym have said that the "8 glasses a day" thing is not really accurate. They said to take your body weight, divide by 2, and that is how many ounces of liquids (water, juice, etc.) you should drink a day in theory. They said while this is more accurate, you are best judge of your hydration level.
So if your 200 lbs, then you should drink 100 ounces of liquids a day or 12.5 8oz glasses.
I just sip on water throughout the day. You pee a lot but it works.0 -

Im kidding. Im a smelly sweaty man so I dont ever have a problem getting enough water. Running and working out makes you thristy. So does caffeine or a diaretic. The nalgene bottle is just good to keep tabs on how much water you drink. *shrugs* Im just a dumb Marine what do i know..0 -
The real theory behind that is 8 oz of added fluids - so tea, water, milk, juice, plain coffee, etc would count (but some of those also add calories!).
If you add lemon, cucumber, or other flavors (natural please, no crap stuff) that might help you.... And for sure have a water bottle with you at all times!
Just as long as you pee nearly clear and you don't feel light, weak, hungry, etc then you are doing fine! All bodies are different after all..0 -
Hey! I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I bought myself a 50 oz water bottle and keep it on me st all times so even when I'm not thirsty I just drink a little bit, sometimes only an oz. but, it absolutely adds up. I drink from it during meals too. At first I was able to finish one a day (thats approx. 6 cups!!) And now I go through 3 a day some days. Try it out!0

If you don't like water, don't drink it! As long as you get enough fluid from other sources, i.e. coffee/tea/milk/soda/juice/fruit/veg, you will be perfectly hydrated. Drinking lots of water wont harm you, but it wont help your weight loss either.
Please don't drink it purely because you think you "have" to.0 -

The bottom line = water is a great way to control appetite. 16 oz down the hatch before a meal and you will tend to eat less. Nothing I've been able to find indicates that you actually need scads of water.
Snopes has something to say about this issue. Yes, it's just Snopes but at least they're citing at least one medical sources.
