Am I starving?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question.. I'm basically just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or specifically females on here. I have an appointment with my gyno on the 10th, but I've been having some weird stuff going on. I've been adhering to a 1200 calorie diet since April (on and off a bit) and have lost 35 pounds so far. I have been stuck at 140 for over a month now and have not gotten my period. I have taken five pregnancy tests (all negative), but I am very bloated and my boobs have gotten bigger. My question for everyone is, has this happened to anyone else on here? Not sure if I'm not eating enough or if I have an actual hormone imbalance. Just looking for a little advice before my appointment next week :) sorry if I'm talking in circles.. any information is much appreciated

HPT's can be false. It's good you made an appt with your OBGYN because it does sound like pregnancy symptoms to me, either way, your doctor can help you get through this hurtle, mine did, he led me to MFP :)

I don't know if you are starving. Are you NETTING 1200 or just eating 1200? Meaning are you exercising and do you eat those? If you exercise AND ONLY eat 1200 calories, then I'd say you're starving, but not sure if this has anything to do with your period not showing up. For all I know it could be pregnancy (maybe you tested to early?), or something on one of your ovaries messing with your cycle.. either way, your OBGYN should be able to figure out what's going on with a few tests. In the mean time, make sure you NET 1200 calories. :)
  • Home pregnancy tests can be wrong, but more than likely, your body is in "WTF" mode from losing so much weight. Have you been exercising a lot? Distance runners, gymnasts, other intense athletes often go without periods for months, sometimes longer. Our bodies need a certain percentage of fat to produce the hormones involved to make our body ovulate and, if unpregnant (my made up word ;-)), have a period. It is good to go to your OB/GYN, just to make sure you're not pregnant and keep on top of your health. Make sure they draw some labs, if they do that there, otherwise make an appointment with your family doctor. The female body is sensitive to lots of exercise and body fat percentage, so I bet that is what is going on.
