Hey all,

I am using Muscle Milk Protein about 3 weeks ago and when I make it I am using milk, but I realized that it's say that I should be mixing it with water. Is any one of you know why is it better to mix it with water and why not with milk? I would also like to get a feedback of you regarding what do you think of this product. My goal is to get leaner and more muscular on my arms.
Any other protein source you would recommend ( I don't really like to eat meat so if possible I would rather take a shake)
Thanks

You can try a low suger content Almond Milk. I switched to that.

And I don't know if the study includes Muscle Milk powder but the premixed version have found to have higher levels of metals. So while not a big deal (ie.. enough to make you throw it away) you might want to consider switching to another brand in the future

My protein powder says to mix it with water but it's much nicer with milk, I just make sure that I record the calories for the milk.

I use GNC Be Buff in vanilla. really good....i mix it with 2 oz of coconut milk, frozen berries, spinach and flax. If i don't have the coco milk I use water.

Really doesn't matter. As long as you account for the extra calories and fat of the milk. I personally mix mine with water, 1/3 cup of mango nectar, ice, fresh strawberries and 1/2 banana. Tastes great, very filling and give me a ton of energy for my workouts.

Milk adds calories... you decide if that's a good thing or not based on your situation.

As for MM... I like it, I use it from time to time but it's not my staple protein because of the fat content. Back when I was trying to drop weight I didn't need any "help" hitting my fat goal so I generally stayed away from MM. Now that I've increased my calories I'm using MM a bit more regularly.

I mix mine with Soy milk, regular or chocolate and I throw a scoop of EAS Whey Powder in there too and sometimes a banana. Delicious!

I started out with Body Fortess Whey Protein and I switched to Muscle Milk, but were told that I should take GNC AMP protein, only problem is that I have no idea which one is better, because in each supplement store everyone recommend something else :P I guess they work with commision :))

The protein powder you choose to take is completely up to you. Do some research sometime because some protein powders have added carbohydrates, fat, sugar all of which effect the calories Milk or water, it's up to you. Make it fit into your diet. You will find that you can even add it to alot of different recipes, it's actually pretty versatile stuff.

    Agreed.

Just compare labels as each one will have different stuff in it besides the protein... from carbs and fat to an array of vitamins and minerals. Get the one that fits your needs and is your price range. Try others if your needs change or you want to try different flavors.

I just bought the GNC powder (guy mixed me a sample in the store with water and it tasted really good) and the guy told me that if I am drinking the shake right after my workout NOT to mix it with soy milk. I was walking out the door and his phone was rining when he said this so I didn't stand around to ask why. Anyone have an idea? I just had one after my morning workout and mixed 1/2 cup soy milk and 1/2 cup water with my powders.

Cholesterol on most/all of the protein supplements are higher than I'd like. But I eat really clean most of the time, and these shakes are not something I have 3 times a day. Once or twice a week as dinner or lunch replacement at the most. The rest of the time I eat real food.

I see your point. I eat pretty clean as well and loosing weight slowly, but try to avoid meat and cholesterol :).
How many times is it okay to do strength training or weight lifting a week? I might have over do it, because my muscle grows really slow even tho I am using protein supplement.... I workout 6 times a week and do at least 20 minutes of weight lifting switching between 8lbs to 15lbs and finish it with 20 lbs to trick my body. I am not sure if I am doing the right thing . Thanks

Well... What are your overall goals?

    To over simplify it:

More weight training and less cardio for muscle growth and bulking.
Less weight training and more cardio to rip and trim.
