There are several free pedometer apps at the app stores that should fit the bill. The one I like is called, generically enough, "pedometer free".0

Endomondo is decent. It can track all kinds of activities and uses your phone's gps.0

for Android, we use jog tracker and really like it. I am a dog walker part time and use it for that, too.0
