New clothes! :)

Isn't it a great feeling when the clothes you are wearing are too big!?! Well, I haven't bought new clothes since I started my weight lost journey and now that I am down nearly 22 pounds, I notice things are WAY to big on me! My fiancee even helped make a new belt hole since my belt was also WAY to big.
I need to get new clothes. I probably will end up at salvation army type places so I don't spend too much, since I will probably be wearing these for about another 20 lbs lost.
My question is though - for when you buy new clothes at "regular" stores like even lets say Target, Walmart, Kohls, TJ Maxx, etc.... how many pairs of pants/shirts do you typically think would be good?
I feel the opposite of a baby/child right now in a way in terms of changing my size! Although, I am getting smaller not bigger!
Thanks!

The thrift stores and clearance sections should be your best friends about now! When I hit another size, if I don't have clothes in my closet that fit, I normally hit GoodWill or Kohls clearance, pick up enough for a weeks worth of work clothes, and make those do until I am ready for the next size down.
Good luck!0 -
If I didn't have so many people in my family to support I would go shopping myself! Maybe after the next 20 lbs I will! Kudos to you though and keep up the good work.0

I'm in the middle of doing this right now.
I got the "bare minimum" in pants~ One black and one brown dress pants from Lane Bryant (still a 14W), one black and one dark wash trouser jeans from Lee.com and 3 "regular" Rider jeans from Walmart.
Also got some long sleeve T's at Walmart and a couple of nicer tops at Kohls (on sale with coupons!)
I already have a lot of cardigan sweaters that I can still wear with a smaller (and cheaper) top underneath.
I lose weight VERY slowly so these should get me through the winter.
And those clearance sections are my best friend!0 -
Congratulations on your loss!
Since you are still in a transitionary spot, I'd say just buy a few basics to get you through, or shop the clearance/sale sections (I mean, I do this anyway because I am cheap cheap!). A woman that I work with recently lost about 40lbs, but she didn't buy much new until she reached her goal weight, so she wouldn't be stuck with a bunch of transition clothes. As a reward for all her hard work, we pitched in and got her a gift certificate for her favourite store, and she bought herself a new outfit to fit her new body.0 -
I bought one pair of jeans, and 3 tee shirts to get me by until the next 20 pounds & a couple of skirts... all on end of season clearance, so i don't think I paid more than 65 dollars for all of them, and I am making "do" with my dressier shirts until I truly can't wear them. I've been wearing a camisole under my shirts too, so when I have to bend or move and the shirt may slide I am not exposing more than I want exposed.0

I went through this over the summer. I bought 4 pairs of jeans and one dress pant, since I don't dress up much and at Kohls I bought 8 tops for about $55. This has kept me for a couple months. I think I only spent about $100 total and basically bought a new wardrobe. JC Penny's always has good clearance jeans You are doing awesome by the way!!!!0

Lucky for me when I had size 16 to 14 pants that I wore when I was in the 170's to 160's THEN i dropped into the 150's I went shopping in my mom's bedroom cuz she had a tote full of size 12's in jeans that were mine AND hers from when i was a size 12 along time ago. Im in LOVE with my 12's in Lee's strech from peebles but they are $40.0

How long do you generally go between laundry loads?
I think thats a good way to judge!
I started working 2 weeks ago and needed dressy work clothes, but there was no way I was going to spend $48 on a pair of 22W pants that I wasn't going to stay in... I wear the same pants every day and just washed them each night...and spent the money on a couple extra shirts.
I did find cheap jeans at Wal-Mart and while I normally don't clothes shop there, $16 jeans were a steal to me.0 -
Thanks for all the advice everyone! Yeah, I think the clearance racks at places will probably be my best bet. I like the suggestion of one pair of pants and 3 shirts.0

I've lost over 50 pounds since last December and I don't think I bought any new clothes until I'd lost 30 lol. So I understand where you're coming from, drowning in your clothes because you don't want to spend money on clothes when you know you are not done losing.
Hit up Goodwill or the Salvation Army stores. If you've never been, you'll be shocked at the amount of clothing for sale there (for CHEAP) that still have the brand new tags on them! They don't really have a lot of crummy stuff-ie nothing with missing buttons or broken zippers, at least not that I've ever seen.
I also bought a lot of "yoga pants" at Walmart for $10 or less. They are great for every day wear and have so much stretch you can wear them for a good 30 lbs!
Good luck and continued success!0
