Ok, I've seen the diva cup thing a lot lately, mostly in mags and online, and I want to know if anyone has tried it and has positve or negative feedback about. I know it be good money wise and helps "go green" or whatever but I'm a tad skeptic...
(and I'm asking here because out of all my gf's, either they feel the same way and are weary of trying it or they've never heard of it.)

I have not personally tried it myself yet, but I'm definitely considering trying it out in the future. I have a lot of acquaintences on other sites that are very natural-minded and have come to love it. I hear there is a bit of a 'learning curve' involved in placing it correctly, but that it actually works really well and is easier to use than you'd assume just thinking about it. I'm sure some people that try it end up not liking it that much, but from all the reviews I've read from people that have tried it, it seems most have been pleased with the result.

There are some really good YouTube videos you can find that show you how to get it placed correctly. Not like pornographic ones LOL, but like using a champagne flute to similate placement in a way that you can actually see.

I LOVE MY DIVA CUP! I've had it for 5 years. That's 5 years of not buying tampons. I had to trim back the little nub on the end as it was hurting me, and getting used to inserting it took a bit of time. Now I can't even feel it. It's awesome. They do get really stained and icky looking after a few months, though. Best $40 I ever spent.

    I absolutely love mine.
I refuse to ever go back to tampons or pads ever again.
It took about a week for me to get used to it. I had to keep cutting off the tip of it before I found a comfortable length. It's really easy to put in as well! The only tricky thing is to make sure it has fully opened when inside or else you will leak. But that's an easy fix by gently pulling it out, but not all the way and it should pop open and you can just push it back in!
Mind you.. I've only been wearing it since June.. and I refuse to go back :D

    I LOVE THE DIVA CUP!
I have an IUD and no longer have a use for mine, but I used it for about 8 months prior.
Would never go back to tampons!

Silicone feels SO much better than cotton!

My only complaint is that I had some leakage in the first couple months (at night, mostly). Not because I was overflowing the cup, but because I hadn't gotten a feel for putting it in correctly all the time - although, for the most part, you know if it's in right or wrong, because it feels right or wrong. And by feels right I mean doesn't feel.

I've tried a disposable cup that is similar. It was alright, but alot of stores didn't carry it, so I eventually stopped using it. Using something reusable in this type of situation isn't really my thing, though.

I've never tried it myself, but I've thinking about it. I know ladies who use it and swear by it though. Honestly, the biggest reason I have tried one yet is because I don't want to drop $30 on one and then it doesn't fit or I don't like it or something. I'm just not in the financial situation to do that right now. But I intend to look into it in the future.

Putting it in doesn't worry me as much as taking it out. I read a review that a lady couldn't get it out because it basically suctions to you? Owww?

It's not for me, but my SIL loves hers.

She must have put it in too high and she has extremely short fingers! I think taking it out is much more easy then putting it in, I just grab around the base, pinch and it releases the suction and you can easily pull it out!

    WHAT IS IT?

It's a small, firm yet slightly flexible cup that is inserted into the vagina to 'catch' menstrual flow, as an alternative to the use of disposable pads or tampons.

It is a cup used during your period that is resuable so you don't have to waste money on disposable tampons every month.

I've got The Keeper (same thing) in silicone. It's pretty awesome, but if I don't get it in right it leaks. I always wear a panti-liner JIC. It can be messy pulling it out and cleaning it so sometimes I end up using tampons anyway. I should use it more. I've been using it off and on for 10 years! (I'm on my 2nd one as I needed to switch to the larger size.)

im at work so i cant research it here, but wouldn't that be likely to cause infection? like if you leave a tampon in too long you can get really sick,...how is this sanitary? (i'm legitimately wondering, not being an *kitten* lol)

It's worked great for me! I love not having such a mess or smell. Just read the directions. They're easy to understand. Definately trim the little nub though.

ive been considering looking into it when i get my IUD taken out next june.. im mainly worried about taking it out...is it messy?

If you just push it in a little on one side it releases the suction, it doesn't hurt.

I've been using mine for about a year now, I like it a lot. I'm not 100% converted, I probably use it 50/50 with tampons. I typically use it on my heavier flow days and at night. Maybe I don't always get the placement right (or maybe it was the three kids I delivered, lol), but it tends to slip down on me, so unless I know I'll be near a restroom in case I need to push it back up, I don't like to wear it out of the house.

OK WELL AT THE RISK OF SOUNDING CHILDISH, IT KIND OF SOUNDS VERY WELL... GROSS. MY FEAR WOULD BE THAT IT WOULD COME LOSE AND THEN YOU'D BE HIT WITH A GUSH....

We're probably not that prone to infection in that area, I'm guessing. The cup I've used has been on the market for at least 15 years, I'd guess, and their research (I know, they're probably biased) shows no risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome like with a tampon. However, I still feel weird about a reusable cup, so I would still prefer a disposable cup. I'm not using them at all, lately, because they're hard to find in stores around here, but I did like them way better than a tampon due to dryness issues.

With Tampons you can get toxic shock syndrome (taken from wiki) "Materials used in most modern tampons are so highly absorbent that they pose the risk of absorbing the vagina's natural discharge and upsetting its natural moisture balance, which is what enables toxic shock syndrome to occur".
While with menstrual cups there has been no known health risks so far, and it''s been out for quite a few years. As long as you clean the cup regularly, there shouldn't be any reason for an infection or any other kind of problem.

ive had a mooncup for about the last 10 years. Well, its my 2nd one, but ive never had a problem with it.Economical, Easy to use, more hygenic, more eco friendly, more reliable, and longer lasting than tampons or towels. Just as comfortable as a tampon, but no string to pee over, so cleaner too. Ive never found putting it in or taking it out a problem. Ive never heard of anyone thats tried one to have had a real problem with them.

you dont have the risk of toxic shock with a mooncup type product because the silicone is an inert substance. it doesnt harbour bacteria like a cotton wool bundle/tampon would.

The thing is life changing. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. Especially if you have heavy periods. I practically hemmorrage and it makes it so I can go about my day without all of a sudden running to the bathroom 45 minutes after the last time. It's like you're not having a period at all. Just empty and clean every hour and a half and you're. G2G. Plus it makes running way more comfortable. Love it.

Loved mine so much and while I do have the correct size, the third child I bore was over 10lbs and my diva no longer stays in place. No matter how much toning I do. Makes me very sad because it truly was a life saver with the heavy cycles I have. I still have it and try it out once in a while but still a no go. Time of month was so much easier to deal with when I could use my diva cup. Any suggestiong from other longtime users?
