How do I work out calories lost at the gym?

Hi,
Ive recently started at the gym and use the treadmill and the bike and a couple of other machines which tell me how many calories burned in each session. When using the other pieces of equipment eg. 3 sets of 15 on each Im unable to work out the calories and dont know the names of the machines to put them onto MFP. So basically Im only able to put down treadmill and bike so not a true reflection of what I have done. On the food tracker you can put quick calories and an amount in, are we able to do this on exercise.
Also im wanting to lose weight so should I be power walking with an incline and cycling more than using the circuit equipment as this is what im doing?
Sorry to sound blonde some advice would be helpful.
Thanks.

Buy yourself a heart rate monitor with a chest strap that tracks calories burned.
Whatever the machine is telling you burned, or MFP is telling you -- both are just guesses. The only accurate way to track true calories burned is with a good HRM.0 -
Thanks will look into this have never thought of that, its not that I eat back my calories, but would be nice to be able to put down a true reflection of what I have actually done in a workout.0

There is an option for Strength Training under the Cardio list for exercise. I don't know how accurate it is however.
Based on what many other people have said about the calories burned, MFP is a little hit or miss on some of them. If your machine gives you an amount burned, especially if you were able to input your weight, I would go with that number. Exercise doesn't have a "Quick Add" feature, but you could adjust the time spent on the exercise to adjust the calories burned.
A heart rate monitor is also something I recommend to know how much you burn. It's only really accurate when you're doing the exercise; I don't know how it would work while you're strength training.
You should definitely work on weights. Muscle burns more energy at rest, so by building muscle, you'll increase your metabolism. It will also help slim your profile by toning the muscles underneath.0
