Okay, I don't think I can take eating my eggs anymore... I have tried chaning it up, but after three months, there is only so much I can take! My favorite used to be egg whites with spinach and tomatoes but I just can't stomach eggs anymore. I have tried a protein shake, which is fine, however I find myself hungry only about an hour later and this shake has 26 grams of protein in it! I need to stay around 4 carbs so if anyone has ANY ideas, please let me know!!!

I LOVE oatmeal but I will only eat it once I hit maintenance. I love banana pancakes but it takes half of a banana and right now that is too many carbs

Is the reason you want low carbs doctors advice? You're clearly not happy going low carb, so unless it's on medical advice, why do it?

low carb diets offer no metabolic advantage

that being said, think outside the box for low carb ideas for breakfast, like chicken, steak etc or maybe greek yogurt with some protein powder or something like that, or skip breakfast all together

I agree with the people above - Why low carb? Carbs are great! Oatmeal is a fantastic breakfast, it'll keep you full until lunch and the possibilities with regard to flavour options are huge!! I subscribe to a blog where the author is trying 365 different oatmeal recipes over a year! YUM YUM. I could it eat for every meal quite happily!

Greek yoghurt is a great option too, for the same reason. Good luck x

If you want to moderate your carbs do it at dinner time when your body doesn't need them so much. Breakfast should be chock full of complex carbs because they will sustain you during the most active parts of the day.

I know you said you are sick of eggs but they work so well. Try some different ways of preparing them. I did Atkins for a year and here were some of the things I did to keep lots of variety (I get bored easily).
Crustless quiche- would make a pan on the weekend, portion it out so I could just grab and go when I needed too. Also ended up being a lifesaver on those hungry too busy days at dinner time, Huvos Rancheros (may not be spelled correctly-bracing for the internet spelling and grammer police), Make them thin and use them like tortillas-stuff to your hearts desire, egg salad.

You already said that you're now not having things you really like...and you consider that good? Why not just watch calories, exercise, then eat the things you actually WANT to eat?

I have heard that it was okay to eat higher carbs in the morning and lighter carbs at dinner time and you would still be able to lose weight.... I tried to find more on that topic but was unable to find anything this.... low carb seems to be the only thing that has ever worked for me so I am affraid to increase my carbs.... but, if increasing them in the morning only wouldn't stall anything, then I am up for it...

Does anyone know anything about this?

Unless you have a medical condition all low carb is is a means to the same common goal i.e. creating a calorie deficit. Have what you want for breakfast, just remember to account for the calories.
  • Try a burger with avocado and salt on it, or leftover grilled steak. Any food can be breakfast food!
  • Not all carbs are created equal. Any carbs with refined sugar and flour are going to increase "silent inflammation" in the body. This increases cortisol levels which causes you to crave carbs and boom! You're in a vicious cycle. (The increased cortisol is the number one factor for adding the infamous "spare tire.") Whole grains, on the other hand, are full of fiber, digest and metabolize more slowly, help keep you full longer and stabilize blood sugar so you DON'T crave carbs. Try Bob's 5-grain cereal, sweetened with stevia, flavored with cinnamon and vanilla. I add milled flax seed for extra Omega-3s. For something different and low carb, I like smoked salmon, a hard-boiled egg, fat free cream cheese, fresh tomato, purple onion, capers and pepperoncini peppers.

IF you have calories and protein left eat the carbs.

I love eggs, but even I will get tired of them if I eat them everyday. You can make a crustless, low-carb version of a pizza called a "meatza" (i.e. http://www.foodrenegade.com/meatza-recipe-for-grainfree-pizza/), which can be modified to be just about zero-carb and reheats real well. You save carbs if you grate cheese by hand instead of using pre-shredded cheese. Use pizza sauce (low net-carbs) by spreading with a spoon.

Another unconventional food I've been eating recently is baking turkey pepperoni in the oven, then letting it cool, so it forms a zero-carb chip for not too many calories. Makes a great low-carb Sunday football snack at least.

Cheeseburgers without a bun but with bacon, sausage stuffed chicken breasts, salmon burgers, steak, are also some other good low-carb breakfast foods that should keep you full for awhile.

I just made Peggy's French Toast (buttoni.wordpress.com) and found them very satisfying. According to the nutritional facts that I put in here, each serving is 265 cals, 22g protein and 2g net carbs. The recipe yields 2 servings. I ate them with a sugar free syrup. After 4 hours I was still unhungry.

YEP! Sometimes I have the previous night's dinner leftovers for breakfast. That's called "me living on the edge." :glasses:
