I have been at this for one week and have a way to go. My husband and my doctor uses this site and suggested we give it a try. I like immediate results but I know that is not possible. I didn't get this weight overnight and I will not lose it overnight. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated. I have a closet full of size ten clothes and I want to wear them again. I also show dogs and know I would handle them better if I was in better shape.

Just take it one day at a time. It's a slow process, but the support you'll find on here is absolutely AMAZING! Not to mention that it makes me feel accountable and I even track when I know I'm over my calories for the day. Remember the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.... and... you've taken it..... Welcome aboard!

I agree with one day at a time. I sometimes get frustrated with my body for having such slow results...but it all starts adding up. The way I look at it is, time will pass either way. A year from now, I'd be wishing I started today.

Fill at our profile, people reading this thread are likely to want to read it. If there are things in common, perhaps even send you an invitation to join their friends list. I've found that supportive and motivating friends on here have been the most helpful!

watch more than just the number on the scale!

Just getting yourself to be active for 1 hr a day is a victory in itself! and that alone will be a significant drive towards your goals.

that and eating clean for the day are something you can watch every day and see results in how you feel. its a HUGE difference!

watch inches, personal activity, how you feel after your active, how you feel when your not, and then what the number on the scale tells you.

the scale starts moving around day 3 or so, and it moves fast for first week then slows down to what your normal rate should be.

1 day at a time! Remember this is not a diet site it is a lifestyle site! Allow yourself to indulge in something you want every once and a while but in moderation. Sometimes I will eat a half of a serving of something I really want just to keep me from binging on it later. If you think you really want something check out the calorie count of it before you eat it. You may find that you do not want to spend your calories that way. Be honest, this site is not about who appears to be the healthiest but about helping each other. If you have a bad day your friends are here to encourage you. It is definitely helpful to have your husband on this site with you! I am doing this with my husband. If you work, encourage your coworkers to do this with you. It isn't only about losing weight on this site, but about getting and staying healthy. Good luck! You have already taken the first step to your new healthy lifestyle.
  • Thanks everyone for the encouragement. As suggested, I just completed my profile.

  • Welcome. Logging everything really helps me to stay on track. This is a great place for a life style change. It is wonderful that your husband is involved in this change with you - all the better for support and encouragement.
