kJ/Calorie Menus

Just sharing, for the purpose of discussion or ... not..
Yesterday I was at The Coffee Club (a popular cafe franchise in Australia) and when I opened the menu the first thing I noticed was price on one side and kJ on the other! (we Aussies pretend we use kilojoules, but we don't really and it confuses everyone trying to count)
It was really interesting, and I used that side to make my ultimate choice, and tsk at my husband's
They're not really a cafe that boasts or brags very healthy eating or anything, and it was the first I've seen.
Do you know of any other menus that show the food's Cal or kJ count? Would it make a difference to your order if it did?

I only know of one place that I've been to (in Canada, Extreme Pita) that does it and I think it's a great idea. If I'm going out or eating out I always plan a head and check out their menu's online and look for their nutrition info before hand so having it on the menu would definitely make my life easier, and it would really help me choose what I wanted to eat!0

I am surprised the coffee club does kilojoule counts but doesn't try to control the kJ in the food it serves - i have seen the kJ list for the coffee club online and there is very little I can eat there, even on a dinner calorie budget of 600 calories.
Also, I love the crust pizza bar healthy options - 800 cal for a vegetarian 'healthy option' pizza? How is eating a dinner 33% bigger than my allowance healthy!0 -
I think it's a great idea! I actually manage a company in NZ and Australia called MenuCoster, and as well as costing recipes we provide the nutritional information for every recipe, which we encourage the food establishments to display, or at least have readily available if customers want to know. The Coffee Club is actually one of our customers. I agree if they are going to display this info however, they should at least try to cater for diet concious customers. I can pass this feedback onto them.
MaenuCoster has many private customers who use our online system to calculate the calories, and/or the cost of their favourite recipes.
Anyone who would like to is welcome to sign up for a 30 day free trial. Absolutely no obligation. Just put MFP, somewhere in your address line so I know that's where you heard about it.
Currently we are just in New Zealand and Australia, but we will definitely be going global in the future.

You can use this free trial no matter where in the world you are based, however please bare in mind that our data base of ingredients may not include some US ingredients, and everything is in metric (although it does convert from imperial too).
I hope this is not interpretted as spam. If it is please let me know and I will delete it. Like I say there is absolutely NO obligation, and if you put MFP in your address line I will ensure a sales rep does not ever contact you to subscribe. If you would like to continue after the 30 days however you would be more than welcome to.0
