and i have lost a full kg! (2.2pounds)
My weight loss slowed down and i was only losing 0.2kg/0.4lb if that per week and decided to see what eating exercise cals would do. Considering I am only on 1 pound a week / 0.5kg weight loss as well this sounds pretty awesome to me!
So don't be afraid to try it, this could be just what you needd!

i will not be eating my execrise calories back because i will end up overeating. What i do instead is give myself small treat a week.

You have to fuel your body. Plan for it ahead of time and overeating shouldn't be a problem.

im a fan of eating back calories. theres no way id actually be able to stick to 1360 calories a day. im a bit discouraged lately ...been doing 30ds and i think ive only lost 2 lbs since i started two weeks ago. part of me wants to lower the number of exercise calories i eat to see if that helps...part of me just wants to keep it the same and see how i do when i finish 30ds

I vote finish the 30 days. 2 weeks is like a nanosecond in weight loss time.

Many people will testify that you don't typically lose as much as you would if you were just doing cardio. Looking at the result pics of people will help you get through the fact that you don't lose a lot at first. The results are awesome! And it will help you lose more calories while doing cardio after you are done building that muscle. I don't think not eating your exercise cals will help you lose more. I think the program is just set up to make you lose fat and gain muscle.

You are losing a lot of fat on it (which is why you lose inches) it's just the muscle that's weighing you down.
  • After some of the AMAZING advice my MF friends have told me about I vowed this time I WAS going to eat back exercise cals but in my head it still doesn't make sense and all that hardwork im doing it's like a waste, be fab to let me know how you get on, I've been to the gym EVERY night after work this week and my weigh in Monday so I'm going to see as week before I injured my knee couldn't go to the gym and was the biggest weight loss I'd had so far!!! Can't wait to see what happens although had sneaky look on those damn scales this morning and I'm actually put albs ON!!!!!! Good luck keep me updated, any advice appreciated and I'm don't get offended

i had the same problem where my weight loss started slowing because i was burning 400-700 calories but only eating between 1200-1300 calories. then i read the post about eating back your calories because your body needs fuel...so i vowed to eat most of them back to see what happened...mfp has me on track to lose 1.8 lbs per week...the 1st week i ate back the calories i lost 1.5 and then week 2 i lost a whopping 3.4 so i will definately continue to work out hard and eat those calories!!!! Plus i love getting to eat more...i feel like i'm cheating but i'm not

If you've been really UNDEReating and then start to eat a bit more, it isn't uncommon to see a slight weight gain at first while your body adjusts to getting more food. Usually, the weight comes right back off within a couple weeks of eating more. So, don't be discouraged. Most people will tell you to give it a few weeks after you start something new to see how your body is going to react once it is used to it.

Keep us updated for the next week. I GAINED 3 pounds this week, and I was sooo good at diet and exercise, so I'm trying to figure out why. Is it bc I need to eat more, or bc I started ripped, and my muscles are swelling, I pigged out last night on a brownie trifle, and I actually lost a .5 pound...

OK folks, remember: BMR x non-exercise activity factor - 500 daily deficit = daily calorie budget

When you create a profile on MFP, it does this calculation for you. You are ALREADY running a daily deficit off your body's energy needs. Eat more when you have more activity so the deficit isn't too large.

One treat, unless its a mega calorie amount won't equal your exercise calories.

Something similar happened to me on 2 different occasions: I was doing a weight loss competition and working out A LOT, but only eating around 1100-1300 calories. I got to a point where I was only losing around half a pound a week. Then, I got REALLY sick with a bad chest congestion flu thing and couldn't workout for a couple weeks (Stuck on the couch). I was really good about the types of foods I was eating and stayed at around 1200 calories...I lost 2 pounds both those weeks! I think the calorie deficit wasn't so big anymore and my body liked that. At that time I had no knowledge of eating back exercise calories, deficits, & all that, and wanted to do well at the contest, so back i went to working out like crazy and keeping my calories around 1200. I stalled out again. One weekend I had a reaction to such a large deficit and cheated A LOT...like movie popcorn, candy, mexican food with lots of chips, etc. I ate clean starting Monday, and by my Thursday weigh in was my largest yet...3.8 pounds lost! This time around...I'm eating! I feel SO much better, have energy for my workouts, and the numbers are good. I definitely need to eat back my calories to make this a life long thing :)
  • thats great to hear..

I to decided 4 weeks ago to trial eating back exercise calories, as my weight loss was also really slow..

My outcome has been the opposite, in four weeks i have GAINED 0.5kg (not much i know)..

I was really hoping to break my platuea and start losing again.. confused as to my next step... Keeep eating them, eat half, zig zag, increase calories and dont ex .. cals back.. My body is not being very co-operative!!!!!!!!!!!1
