I'm a vegetarian with a soy allergy - does anyone know of a meatless AND soy-free hot dog available in the U.S.?

i hate hot dogs, im vegan, but tofurky brats are great and theres another bratwurst thats vegan as well, they might be soy free. id go on veganessentials.com and you can check out the ingredients and probably buy them at a whole foods market near you.
  • Unfortunately, all the Tofurky products are made with soy...

Man. I don't even know what that could be made of. Sorry I can't help but I hope you find it.

I've made seitan sausages before and it's super easy. Here's a hot dog version I found:

Oh, and if you steam them they'll come out moister (same length of time).
  • Have you heard of Quorn? I think they sell it in US. I love the stuff it tastes great and I believe that most of it is soy free. Not sure what products they sell there as it is different in each country.

Quorn is made from a fungus - so one might have allergy problems with it as well.

That actually sounds good but wouldn't satisfy a hot dog craving I don't think. I love hot dogs. As a kid I hated hamburgers (yeah, I'm weird like that) so I'd eat a hot dog instead. :-)

There is one by Fieldroast and most Whole Foods carry them. Look by the daiya cheese. They have hotdogs and italian sausage and they are really good!
I am a soy-free vegan and it made my day :-)

Field Roast is yummy. They have sausages, not sure about hot dogs.

They do have hot dogs! Really really good ones and sold in most us whole foods.

I second the Field Roast Frankfurters-- they are remarkably hot-doggie in flavor--but do be aware, Field Roast products are very delicious, very pricey and *very* filling. One seitan frank on a bun has far more cals than a regular soy dog.

But I guess cravings are worth the cost... Enjoy!
