I want something to give my shake an extra boost but there are so many supplements out there that IDK which is best!

1) not shakeology, too expensive
2) something kind of cost effective would be nice
3) not too interested in just a whey protein..i feel like protein is easy enough to get in your system with just food alone.

Any ideas? What do you use?

I keep hearing bcaa and 5a-Hydroxy Laxogenin, I bought some bcaa to start this next week. Bcaa is suppose to be amazing for people cutting.

On a diet with sufficient protein, bcaa's are a complete waste of money.

I keep hearing the opposite, almost every health site is a huge fan of bcaa. Especially for cutting fat and keeping muscles, they are amino acids your body can't create ad have to be gathered from food. I posted a topic here and got the same response. I ish people would all stay on same page, makes me wonder about the bcaa and if they are going to be a benefit.

@jrgold what do you do for work outs? Do you lift a lot, mainly cardio? What are your trouble areas diary wise. These would all help give better options.

Like I said, addition of BCAA's on a high protein diet is pointless, because you get sufficient amounts of BCAA's in foods. The amino acid everyone is looking for is Leucine and that is found aplenty in foods like beef, chicken, fish and eggs. I'm not against supplementing BCAA's. If you supplement BCAA's on a protein rich diet, it will just be excess calories that you don't need. And extra calories does not help cut fat.

BCAA's are only useful if you're training while fasted. Otherwise, they're not necessary, especially if you use whey protein, as that contains them already. There are a ton of natural sources for them, so yeah, basically a waste of money.

To the OP, nutrient type stuff? Crush up a multivitamin? Tough to give suggestions without knowing the types of nutrients you want.

I work out, nothing too insane though. Alot of ab exersises, running/walking.....

Basically, most of my diet is carbs and just enough protein. I dont eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, so I suppose sometihng along the lines of those kinds of powders might work.

You've just answered your own question. Add fruit. Frozen fruit is inexpensive and you can easily keep a few bags in your freezer. Plus, they'll chill your shake for you.

Just be sure you're getting enough protein and fat in your diet as they are essential.
