Knee Pain - Back Inside

Well, poo! I was hoping this would clear up on its own. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance and am a poor waitress/student, so seeing a specialist isn't really an option right now. I will take any medical/personal advice with a grain of salt.

Backstory: About 5 weeks ago, I was wearing poorly fitting shoes and started experiencing pain in the back inside portion of my left knee. I started running 4-5x a week 3 weeks ago. When I'm not running, I don't feel any pain. Once I get about 15 minutes into my jog, however, I start experience almost a popping sort of pain? Like a muscle or ligament is pulling a little. It isn't excruciating or even painful enough for me to need to stop running, but I don't want to screw up my knee.

I do wear a brace when running and ice afterwards. I am at a healthy weight, so I do not see that as part of the problem. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks xo

You probably have one muscle stronger than the other and it's pulling your kneecap out of place. Google some physical therapy exercises for your feet, ankles and legs and work on getting them built up before you start running hard again. Look up stretches too. If one side is tighter than the other it needs stretched out. Yoga is a great way to stretch and strengthen muscles you didn't know you had especially your core.:flowerforyou:

Stretching got rid of all knee pain after running for me. Try this link: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_1/126.shtml
  • I, too, have very poor insurance. Very high $10,000 deductible. And I also have had knee pain which has practically gone away. How? I went and saw a good physical therapist. Mine only cost about $50 per session. Many times if you tell doctors, dentists and PTs that you have no insurance, they will give you a break. If they don't, try another one.

If you go to a Physical Therapist though, make sure you get a recommendation. There are a lot of bad ones out there. I know a really good one here in Orlando, FL and a really good one in Portland, OR. if you happen to be in either of those two areas, let me know in this blog.

    Good luck!
  • I would not take any chances get yourself checked, in case you do some serious damage.
