Heart Rate during Spinning class

I had my first spinning class yesterday morning. I most certainly could not keep up with the others who had been in the class for about five years. And, I have a question about my heart rate. Twice the instructor said to us, after a bit of a slow down, that our heart rates should be back down to 75. I looked at my HRM> The first time he announced this my heart rate was at 145. The second time, it was at 132. Is my heart rate staying up too high for too long?

I would think that all depends on what your normal heart rate is. I'm going to my first cycle class on Tuesday. I spoke to the instructor and she told me that there are beginners and people that have been going for 10 years. I'm not sure that your heart rate should have gone down to 75. I think it depends on what's "normal" for you.

75?!?! I just sit on the bike and my HR goes over 100. Not sure what the instructor was talking about - mine stays between 140 and 185 for the duration of the class. But that's MY normal. Everyone needs to know their own normal, and once you do, you can just ignore the teacher.0

Ask for clarification. 75 might mean bpm (beats per minute) or 75% of maximum heart rate which is considered ideal for cardio exercise.0

^ Same for me! Maybe the instructor said 175 and not 75?In order for my HR to be 75, I'd have to be in bed or sitting around doing nothing. I did a spin class yesterday and mine didn't even go down to 130 until I was off the bike after the class stretching.
