Hi this is a bit of an odd question but I had an operation not to long ago and have found that when I eat bread or pasta or any sort of heavy food my stomach hurts. Anyway for the last couple of days I haven't eaten bread or pasta so it wouldn't hurt and since doing that the eczema I have been suffering with for years has completely gone. Is it a coincidence or could it have been the bread and causing it? I've been using all the different creams the Dr gives me and nothing has worked and now its just gone its so weird.

What do you guys think?

You could have an allergy. It's pretty common. Good luck and glad you found relief!

    Celiacs?( gluten intolerance)
  • Not coincidence. Foods high in carbs will tend to exacerbate any type of chronic eczema or dermatitis. Same goes for alcohol mainly because of the fact that it increases yeast production internally. If you must eat high carb foods though, gluten free generally works better.

Get checked for celiac disease. My father had it without realizing it for 65 years. Symptoms really didn't appear to the level of disrupting his life until after he had surgery, although he had suffered with eczema and a variety of other rashes most of his life. Apparently, surgery or other trauma can exacerbate symptoms in celiacs. The celiac disease was actually diagnosed by a skin biopsy and then confirmed by samples taken from his intestines during an endoscopic exam.

Eczema and stomach upset after eating bread/pasta/grain are a couple of the hallmark symptoms of celiac.

You should ask your doctor for an allergy test. I'm surprised they haven't had you do one before. My 3 year old has eczema and when it didn't clear on it's own they did the allergy test. Now that we've cut out the things he's allergic to his skin has cleared.
